Not surprised at all.
However, they will be reworked. I don't think Nintendo would let a N64 emulator for the XBLA.

yeh i wuz thinking the same thing
Are you sure they said the original would be exclusive? I thought they said that Banjo: Nuts & Bolts would be exclusive. Actually, I think this is promising because since Nintendo published the game, they have rights to it too. It is possible Nintendo made a deal with Rare/Microsoft to get the games on both services. We'll have to wait and see...Rocky32189
They said the original BK is coming to XBLA. And I'm sure MS managed to have it exclusive, at least for a long time. Hell, they even have FF13 now.

Yes, but unless I missed it, they didn't say that it would be exclusive to XBLA like the TC said.
Now that I've thought of it, Rare may be updating the game and not just releasing a port of the N64 version. This may allow them to bypass the fact that Nintendo published the original.
Although I'm still going to hang onto the glimmer of hope that the two parties came to an agreement which would allow the game on both services.
are they getting golden eye to? i know they have already reworked the game with online multiplayer and everything!
or is ninty still holding them back with that game, cause i really want to play me some golden eye with my freinds up state!
kenakuma
Nothing was announced about Goldeneye, only Banjo.

It's perfectly possible for BK to be released on Virtual Console, but I think MS will do everything to keep BK for them. That's how they are. And for some reason I think Rare doesn't care about Nintendo anymore.
DK 64?
kenakuma
DK64 will of course be coming to VC since it's a Nintendo franchise. They released all three DKC games, so DK64 is next in line.

I don't think it's possible for them to secure exclusive right to a direct port of the N64 version unless they paid off Nintendo.

what about ninty with golden eye, last i heard ms is ready to release it re-vamped and everything AND ninty will get to publish the old version on the vc, but ninty says "NO if we can't be the only ones to have it nobody will have it!"
Nintendo either got payed quite a lot, or they were allowed to put it on the Virtual Console as well.
Remember how Goldeneye was getting remade? And Nintendo stopped it because they still owned the rights to parts of it(or something along those lines), I'm sure its the same deal with these, especially if they are direct ports.

was never confirmed, its most likely to do with that rare does not own the licence to the james bond games

If that's the case, then why the heck are they developing games for the DS?
Meh, I have a 360. Not that terrible for me. Sucks for you Wii people, though. Banjo-Kazooie and DK 64, and Banjo-Tooie, I suppose, were Rare (Pun intended) Masterpieces. Power_WristI think Nintendo owns the rights to all DK Country games, which means that this game would come to the VC. If it has appearances from RARE-owned characters, however, then they would have to edit them out of the game.

Well that was because of Jason Giambi's magic moustache.

I think SE is just a backstabbing company. I love FF, don't get me wrong, but what they have been doing to Nintendo - and now Sony - is just cheap. It's like one woman that keeps hopping from lover to lover...whichever one has the most money to spend on her, she flocks to, and brings along her friends, so it's a double-ouch!If that's the case, then why the heck are they developing games for the DS?
Super-Mario-Fan
Because that's a huge market and MS doesn't have a handheld.
If Rare still respected Nintendo, they wouldn't show an exploding Mario in their BK trailer.

Allowing more people to play a game will never be backstabbing. It's not like PS3 owners aren't getting FF13 anymore.

At least this one is actually coming out unlike goldeneye which was going to be on both the wii and the 360 but Nintendo decided not to let the deal go through

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]Everyone already knew this
No big surprise
nakasa5
Now it's official though.
It's always been official M$ owns RARE.
Everyone, IT'S NOT OFFICIAL! MS never said "It's coming exclusively to XBLA." It's as likely as it was yesterday. We don't know the deal MS and Ninty struck so it's actually more likely now since Nintendo either got a butt-load of cash or the ok to put it on the VC.JAB991
Do you really think that Microsoft is giving permission for Rare to give their biggest rival, Nintendo, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark- 2 of the absolute best FPS games of all time, on a Nintendo console?

They put Goldeneye online on XBOX Live, not on Wi-fi. XBOX, not Nintendo. Microsoft will never give Nintendo a helping hand. They'll help themselves. Business is business. OMG I wish Rare wasn't owned by MS, but face it Rare isn't gonna be affiliated with Nintendo for a long time to come, possbibly never again.

"...a proposed deal from Microsoft that would have seen not only GoldenEye released on the Virtual Console, but other, unspecified Rare games (Jetpac? Sabre Wulf?) as well."
MS is willing to have games on the VC if it benefits themselves as well. Remove the ... from the URL, I had to add it due to censors.

I don't think you understand what he was talking about. Rare and Microsoft tried to make a deal with Nintendo that would allow Goldeneye to be released on both XLA and VC/WiiWare. Nintendo declined. They felt it was better that no one get the game than to allow it on a competitor's console.

the xbl version would have beat out the vc version in sales to, all these ppl who have both a wii and 360 (which is alot more ppl than i thought after being on these boards) will probably take the 360 version over the vc since the 360 version will probably have the CLASSIC game along with an updated version with 1080 HD and online play, voice chat, leaderboards, dlc, acheivments, etc.......and from what i hear that version is done and ready to go!
HOWEVER nintendo could take the time and update the game too by adding online play (even though it wont top xbl) and other NEW featers and then throw it on WII WARE and put up a fight with the xbla version!!!
Oddly enough,
*old info probably*
is that the Nintendo logo and the GameBoy will still be intact. :?
I don't understand what's going on at all?
First the N64 at Banjo 3, now this ?
Source: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=192635
I am going to make everything clear right now.
TC, change your title because it is misleading. At E3, microsoft never said it isn't coming to vc. they said it is coming to xbla. there is still a chance.
On dk64, it will NEVER, EVER be on xbla as nintendo holds 100% of the rights to the entire dk franchise. other rare games such as perfect dark and banjo kazooie rare and nintendo share the rights.
On golden eye, rare completely reworked the game and it was FINISHED and ready to be put online but microsoft and nintendo couldn't reach agreements so the game had been canned. there was a 10 page story in some xbox magazine.
im pretty sure that if banjo is going to be on xbla, it will also be on wiiware.
