What, they really thought pretending to only have one console in the store rather than piling all the consoles on a table would make that much of a difference?
That'd annoy me if I went to that Best Buy specifically for a Wii and then see an employee parade around with a box, claiming it's the last one, and another customer getting it before you. Then imagine fiinding out they really had a dozen in the back and you left empty handed because you trusted they were telling the truth. That's really messed up. They're fooling with thier customers, not helping them.
Wouldn't they sell more if they just left them out on the shelf and not parade 1 every 30 minutes? I can't trust this story.LINKloco
Well if there's only one out at any given time, someone walking by is more likely to jump on it, since they think they have to act fast before it's gone. So it kind of makes sense that some sleazy employees might try that, whether or not the story is actually true. Also, they might just be getting their kicks out of messing with people, which wouldn't surprise me.

They want people to keep coming back to the store in a futile attempt to find the Wiis they have in the back. That way these people get tempted and buy other products. It makes perfect sense. Why would you not trust the article??
I find this article interesting, I understand the business side of it I guess and I bet my bottom dollar that Best Buy isn't the only one doing this. Its funny though because if a store tellssomeone that this is their last one, won't most people usually go to another store, probably a competitor. I mean, its not like there is a DRAMATIC price change in the Wiifrom store to store.I do believe in customer loyalty to a certain extent, but that usually deals with the staff, not the store. But aren't they really saying, "We got plenty in the back but we whether you buy it from our lead competition." Everyone seems to trying to be ready to stock for next Friday, thats all.bottomdollar
Why would people leave and go to another store if told there's one left in stock? Wouldn't they just scoop it up right away? They're not telling people there are NONE left, they're telling them there is ONE left - that's why it works.
that doesnt prove anythingg. that just shows one bestbuy doing something to to sell them. Its not een connected with nintendosonic_rusher
Who said it was connected with Nintendo? Or that is was supposed to prove anything? It's just an example of sleazy business practices, don't get worked up about it.
