Which characters should I ignore and which classes should I use?
Amelia, Ross, Moulder, and Marissa are all underleveled in my game and its really hard to level them.
Thx

It depends on how you want to play. If you plan on rushing throug the game you can just sacrifice the ones you don't like. You can level up in the tower with any characters you want to take to the end, and level them all up if you want to take your time.
I always found the thieves to be almost useless in battle, so I didn't bother leveling them up much. Knights or mages on horses are always valuable, and a few healers naturally. The swordsmen with killer edges will need a lot of time leveling up, but are worth the time imo. You only need a few axemen and a few bowmen.
Amelia and Ross are absolutely worth the time and effort. Since they go through ten more levels than typical units, they gain more stats. I remember in my old file that Marissa was pretty awesome too, so in my opinion she's worth the investment. I'd pass on Moulder though, there are better healers.
Never played this game. I've yet to start. I'm about halfway through Fusion, then I'll be starting Kirby. Theeen this game. So many games. But this thread will come in handy :PKaze_no_Mirai
Take my advice. You can skip Kirby. That game is a maze and you have to read a guide through the whole game and its the hardest game in the Kirby series.
Metroid Fusion, Fire Emblem: SS, and LOZ: Minish Cap are the only worth to beat. Maybe Yoshi's Island and Wario Land, but they r just for fun.
But Mario Kart and F-Zero there is nothing to beat, but alot of ppl try and get Blue Falcon in F-Zero. Warioware you can beat and also Mario and Donkey Kong, but I just play those for fun and not to finish.
If you guys want more info I've used this wiki in the past and it seems pretty reliable. fireemblem.wikia.com/
Scared Stones is most likely the easiest fire emblem, and you can effectively use any character through out the series. Just use the ones you like, unlike the other fire emblems, your not going to be held back by much.
But if you truly want some best characters...Ross is probably the best one, he comes in early, usually has great, if not amazing stats. Lute also seems to be fairly awesome, in both playthroughs I have done with her, she pretty much wiped everyone in her path once you get her promoted.

I was about to say this. She's my MVP of all time.
Also, don't be afraid to use Ephraim. He's a good unit when you get him. Usually in FE games this is meant to decieve you but he really only gets better. And he is the Lord so you're going to have to have him around.
Also, don't bother with Joshua. Just... don't. Axe weilders take a lot of damage with their low defense, which is why they get high HP but they are still pretty useless unless you want to follow the weapons triangle 9which you can work around since Hero's (promoted Mercanaries) can use axes. Use healers. Make them bishops and they will do damage and keep units alive.
I think you can only promote one theif in FE8 (or not at all?) but they are useful to have around, really.
Innes is great for a pre-promote. I was never lucky with Tana's stats, or most Pegasus Knights in general...
I also never kill off characters in FE games. Even if I hate them and will never use them, I can't.
tl;dr rambling
characters you might want to consider
characters maybe worth the training (i never felt like effort ok)
you can really beat any fire emblem game with WHATEVER CHARACTERS YOU WANT but sometimes using the higher stats characters make it easier. FE8 is great because it's a FE game you can grind with so you can use the characters you want with the lovely supports and etc. PS don't forget to use supports. FE8 has the best ones imo besides FE7

I might skip it then. I won't play Minish Cap until last though since I've already beaten the game. :P But Fire Emblem shall be nextThat's all good advice. Plus aren't lvl up items limited? I have only gotten 2 hero crests so far and one of everything else. So I dont have anything else to lvl up the others. My Joshua is already to lvl 10. But I can lvl up Marissa if need be.

There are "secret shops" where you can buy all of the promote items you need.

At the Tower you can earn some quick money. Also, raise a thief with high enough speed to steal things from enemies. it could earn you free weapons and things to sell (gems).
I'm almost done. 5 more chapters to go of Eirika's story, then I'll start on Ephraims.
I did 100% completion when I had Fire Emblem 1 on the GBA. And then I played a couple of the Gamecube ones, but never finished them through.
I am trying to decide if I should get the next Fire Emblem or not since I never played the DS one and never completed the GC or Wii one.

FE1 = FE7.
The first Fire Emblem was on the NES I think.
Play the GC one! Its really short and kind of easy on Hard mode but... if you have the supports on them they transfer over to the Wii one (which has no supports) for multiple endings and stuff. the ikexSoren A support is the only one that really changed much if you ask me.
The Fire Emblem on DS is pretty terrible no matter how you look at it. Rent it.
Coupl'a things: 1st: of the characters named, Marissa is undoubtably the best character- Swordmasters(evolved myrmidons) are nearly untouchable, very nearly(if not absolutely)always strike at least twice, and have extreme critical rates(between 33 and 60% usually). 2nd: whoever said ignore Joshua hasn't the faintest idea what he's talking about(for the same reasons listed above). 3rd: train, train, train your flying units- and don't be afraid to pump them up with stat boosting items(for def mostly). Flyers like dragon riders and pegasi knights have extreme range and rescue stats, so they can really get you out of a pinch. Make sure you keep your main flyer equipped with a fili shield as soon as you get one- it takes away the x3 advantage from archers. Flyers also have high magic resistance, making them invaluable for mopping up crowds of mages. 4th: Ewan, while he has a glass jaw right up until his first evolution, turns out to be the Mage of Steel later on. I take him the shaman route myself, but that's up to you, of course. Hope this helps.El_Zo1212o
Joshua was a waste of time both times I've used him.
I love his hat but he is made of glass and not worth the time when there are better units out there.
Ewan, Amelia, and Ross are easily 3 of the best characters in the game as long as you level them up, which is really easy to do. Gerik, Joshua, Neimi, Franz, Tana, Cormag, Artur, and Natasha are all great as well. Never use characters that are already promoted because they are just not worth it, although Seth, Saleh, and Innes are actually pretty good.

Ewan comes in way too late in the game to be trained properly, this is something that is not true for Ross and to a lesser extend Amelia. If you are to not train one trainee it be Ewan. He's not a bad character, but he isn't as good as Amelia or Ross when buffed. Neimi (while I do use) needs to be babied as well, but if you want an archer, pretty much the only way to go, and she does turn out great.Seth is great, but use him only as a meat shield early in the game, mid and late game is when you can really use him, and honestly he is one of the best characters in the game overall. Natasha is a beast and Joshua is rather mixed unless you support him and/or turn him into sword master (rather bad as an assassin, trust me). And most of the others you mention are pretty much correct or I have no real input on.
Course this is all rather pointless as you can grind in this game hahaha.
I just got to chapter 14 realizing there was a guy called Cormag. I still have my New Journey file saved. Anyway I still get Cormag? And it is seeming like all my weapons are getting broke, I'm broke, and it's taking me at least 5 tries to beat each chapter on Eirika's story. Why is this? Should I do Ephraim's first and restart?

Just use the tower, like I said....
Or arenas. Have you not been using arenas? They train your units and give you money.

The arena doesn't use up your weapons.
I personally think the Arena is too risky in SS when you have the tower and random encounters, but it's true that that's a good way to earn money.
The 3rd floor of the tower of Valni has a chest with 3k gold in it every time. Just bring in a chest key with you or a Thief or Rogue and you can get some money that way. And always abuse Arenas. They are the best way to level up characters and get money, you just have to make sure you only go in when the stakes are low so you don't have to worry about mismatches or getting KOd.I just got to chapter 14 realizing there was a guy called Cormag. That's what's so great about Fire Emblem games, everybody has different experiences with each character based on a lot of things like luck, focus, random stat upping, personal use and so on.[QUOTE="Pixel-Perfect"]

I like how the later games in the series give you equipment that boosts the odds of increasing specific stats though.

Yeah I agree with you -- I much prefer those bands that control the stat leveling over randomness. I was just commenting in general about how I like that everybody has different experiences with each individual character (outside the mains). I always thought the leveling system worked pretty well- and if any character needs a specific stat increase, there'll usually be a consumable for it sooner than later. What I liked about this game was that most of the characters were so interesting, or amusing, or (in one or two instances) inspirational- only in a few cases does any addition to your force feel like it was thrown as window dressing, and even then if you use them then they do gain dimension as characters via the support system. For some reason I love this game where "Fire Emblem" was just okay and I hated Shadow Dragon within 4 hours of bringing it home.[QUOTE="Pixel-Perfect"]

Its because Shadow Dragon had no character supports. FE8 and FE7 imo had the best character supports and thats why I love them so much. FE9 had some okay ones but only IkexSoren and MistxBoyd changed any endings.... Shadow Dragon had no plot but I probably would have liked it at least a little if they added suuports.
Who should I use angelic robe and dragonshield with? Eirika and Tana?
pacific90
I'd honestly use both on Tana, but if you want to use the dragonshield on someone else Erika would be a good choice. Tana needs that robe though
I always use one of the Angelic Robes on Eirika because she needs the HP most of the time. Dragonshield isn't a bad idea either because her Defense is usually pretty low too, but Tana might be the better choice for that. Generally I just use a stat boosting item on the character who benefits most from it, or who really needs it most.Who should I use angelic robe and dragonshield with? Eirika and Tana?

I have a lvl 12 Forde, lvl 10 Kyle, lvl 14 Garcia, lvl 14 Gilliam, lvl 10 Neimi, and lvl 10 Colm. On chapter 10. Joshua at 10, Artur at 10, and Tana at 10.

If I remember correctly it's 12 but that might be wrong... I know the 2 or 3 chapters before the last one you can bring in more characters than you do in the last one, so you won't necessarily have wasted characters. How many ppl do I take on the final chapter?
And being lvled up to 10 for almost everyone on chapt 10 is making the game go alot smoother!

I don't understand how people can say Amelia is a bother to level up. I never use the towers yet I getboth Amelia and Ewanlevel ten the moment I get them. How? Well the design of the level from which you get Amelia just begs to level her up by trapping the archers in the tight corridors with the healer and simply poke away. Remove the magic users and use a high defence character like Ephraim to force the archer lower and lower until you are adjacent to the archer. Like this, the archer can't do anything and the healer will probably be stuck behind the archer. Tada! You now have a knight with 23 hp, 10 attack, 10 speed that is only level one!
how do i promote pupils?
just get them to lvl 10?
pacific90
Yeah, then they should promote themselves at the start of the next battle.
