That is a fantastic find

For me it's the first Super Mario Bros

To come right out of the gate and NAIL every single gameplay element is one of the biggest accomplishments in gaming history. Sure, Super Mario Bros 3 added some things to the gameplay but the first one was the foundation that it was all built upon.

I like Sunshine best, but 64 and World were also good. Of the NES ones, my favorite is actually Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA), which isn't even a true Mario game but is more fun than the first three titles anyways.

Yeah, but I think we are kinda talking about games from the main series, not spin-offs. But yeah, I like all three of the Paper Mario games.

the only mario game i really got into was Mario land 2 :6 golden coins on gameboy (strange i know)

it didnt help ive never actually owned a nintendo console other then a gameboy

I have to say Super Mario Bros 3 because it is simply awesome with the secrets,the levels, the mini games and of course the power ups. It is 2D platforming perfection.

This has to be a joke topic. There's no way anyone can have just ONE favorite Mario game. :P I guess if I had to be stranded on an Island with only one Mario game it would be Super Mario 64. If I could pick more than one then SMB, SMB3, SMW, and Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga would also be on that list.
