Metroid Prime: Hunters should be your cup of tea then. Lots of stages, 7 characters to choose from, and you can play random matches in Battle mode without Friend Codes. If you do swap FCs, you can also customize your matches and unlock voice/text chat before the game starts. Another great one is Mario Kart DS (but Hunters is a shooter so I'm guessing you prefer that).metroidfood
Thanks for the info on MPH! (guess i was too late with that last post)
oh yes... and Ive been through the recommendation thread, and MPH and Mario kart DS are certainly recommended..... but are there ANY OTHERS? especially FPS?FrankGlasses
So far no other online FPS... :(
Not only have most devs ignored that genre on the DS, new ones like Call of Duty only have local multiplayer.
Apparently, Worms 2 is supposed to have good online if you like those kinds of games, and there are some puzzle games like Picross and Planet Puzzle League, and some RPGs like Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and LostMagic have online, but you'll have to look and see what they offer, as not all "Wi-Fi" games include online play, some (Final Fantasy 3) only include Wi-Fi features instead of gameplay. You can check out a complete list at "nintendowifi.com" but be sure to check the game out on IGN or Gamespot before you buy. Also, be wary of FC only games as you'll have to swap FCs with someone before you can play. :(
(Some upcoming games with Wi-Fi are LoZ: Phantom Hourglass with a surprisingly deep online minigame, and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground which looks to be a good sequel to the TH franchise)
I have both hunters and mario kart online. Both games are fun online but are ruined by cheaters, especially metriod. I mainly stopped playing it online because I got tired of people cheating with inifinite health. In Mario Kart I learned to snake because you'll get beat badly if you don't. Well now I know how to snake, so the newer people who don't know how to snake have no chance against me. There are still people that are so much better than me that I have no chance at winning, and in both cases the game is not fun. Occasionally I run into someone that is in the same skill level range that I am in and when that happens the races are close and a ton of fun, but its rare unfortunately.
Still I say Mario Kart is the better online game.
