Well-- Though I like RPG's, I haven't really played that many for the DS. If you consider it an RPG, i'd go with Digimon World: Dawn. I had a lot of fun with this game and even after two months of having it, I still play it from time to time. FF3 would be a close second, but truthfully I thought it was a bit boring. Power Leveling and story felt quite tedious after awhile, just didn't get into it like the other Final Fantasy games.
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time is probably the best one, and its the best score-wise also. Second place would probably go to Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings
Theres still many to come: The World Ends with YOu, Final Fantasy TActics: Advance 2, Valkyrie Profile: the Accused one (something like that), Disgaea DS, and a remake/port of Fire Emblem 3.
So far I'm loving Luminous Arc. I've played Pokemon Diamond and it's really enjoyable. I'm taking it one game at a time, so I kind of just stopped. I have FFCC: RoF, and i'm expecting it to be good. I haven't played it yet.
Also there are Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2. I loved the first one, though there wasn't that much of a storyline. Also, I'm expecting Fire Emblem DS to be good, I'm in love with that series.
Anyone looking at The World Ends With You?
The DS isn't really a great platform for RPGs. I have all the ones I'm interested in, and the only one I actually think is truly solid is FFIII.
I liked FF III because of its variety of jobs and weapons, but I now like FF IV (JPN version) more because it has a more solid story, with characters that seem more developed (and yes, I have this game).
Well my ds lite games that i own are:
Final Fantasy III
Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth Remix
Luminous Arc
The Legend of Zelda:Phantom Hourglass
Final Fantasy XII:Revenat Wings (have'nt even opened it yet)
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword (picking it up tomorrow)
I enjoyed them all immensly!
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Really had a lot of fun on that. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time was good and fun but blown away by Zelda and that game's stylus controls.
Here's my top 5:
Lunar Knights (This game took up a lot of my time)
Luminous Arc (a traditional RPG with a great story)
Hoshigami Remix:Ruining Blue Earth (very underrated)
Mega Man Star force: Leo ( Loved the game play and story)
Zelda Phantom Hourglass (disappointed in the game)
The DS is a great RPG system. Here are the ones I own and recommend:
Puzzle Quest (my favorite)
Final Fantasy III
Contact
Etrian Odyssey
DQM: Joker
FFCC: Ring of Fates
Pokemon Pearl
If you're looking for a little more action then Zelda, Lunar Knights, and Castlevania are great, too. Never played Mario and Luigi, though I love the GBA version. Orcs and Elves also looks good, but I haven't played that either.
Also, LostMagic is hugely underrated. I'd call it more strategy than RPG, but it deserves mentioning.
Zelda PH, Etrian Odyssey, M&L PiT, Contact, FFIII, MM Star Force (Leo), Lost Magic, Pokemon (Diamond), and others.

Woa,Woa, Woa there
Let me think this out loud: you thought Luminous Arc and Hoshigami Remix were GOOD?
Luminous Arc's story, gameplay, characters, camera, job system, everything was terrible. I'm not even going to get started with Hoshigami
But you DIDN'T like Zelda, one of the best DS games ever? Please elaborate
And for the Record, Zelda is not a RPG.
You sir, are easily satisfied. Which I suppose isn't a bad thing anyways.
I've played about 4-5 RPGs on the DS. Here they are in order from most liked to least liked. A top 4-5, if you will.
1. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. Just plain awesome.
2. Pokemon D/P. *waits for poke-flamers*
3. Pokemon Ranger. (No, I'm not joking with that. :/)
4. Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time.
Yeah...the DS needs more RPGs, personally.
can't say i really like any of the RPG's on the DS. out of the ones i've played...
partners in time: was fun, but i got bored of it
FFIII: holy crap, the ability not to save screwed me over, so i traded the game in. came to like the final dungeon or something and died, and would have had to redo hours of work.
diamond: was fun, but i couldn't find myself to finish it because i got tired of the repetitiveness.
REALLY waiting for a fire emblem and FFTA2.
Iv only played magical starsign and pokemon white so i can't say iv had much experience with rpgs on the DS.
