Which is your favorite companion thus far? I just beat Skyward Sword, so I feel I am ready to pass judgement on it in any way now :P. Fi grew on me, but still, she talks too much and repeats too much. My favorite is definitely Navi. I do not get the hate for her.

Epic fail on the topic title lol. But I give it hands down to Midna, easily the best companion relationship in this series. I love watching the relationship grow between them. I enjoyed Fi though and the ending with her was great. I don't even really consider The King of Red Lions in this company, he was like a talking Epona, he didn't actually like go in the dungeons or anything with you. The rest were always with you, they always had your back, except that fail by Navi against Ganondorf :P

Midna is easily the best side-kick imo. I like Fi as a character fine but appearance wise she still creeps me out.

I always got Ricky, and Dimitri on one play-through... I still prefer the King of Red Lions. Tatl was kind of funny though. Still haven't played SS

i'm going with midna. king of red lions was never much of a sidekick for me, just my boat that every now and then decided he had a saying in anything i did. navi is meh, i don't remember anything tatl did other than floating above the locked-on enemies. fi is... interesting.

AH, FORGOT ABOUT SPIRIT TRACKS ZELDA. she is the best sidekick by far. linebeck probably comes second. as much as i was underwhelmed by PH, i still loved the humor. and spirit tracks is still in my top 5 zelda games, partially because of zelda herself. oh god triple post sorry haz D:

lol thanks for pointing my fail out :P.

Yeah Midna might be the best, I need to play TP again. Midna was definitely better than Fi. I felt the ending with Fi was kind of out of place and not natural. And maybe that is one reason I liked the KoRL so much, cause he wasnt always popping out telling you obvious things ALL THE TIME lol.

Oh dear god, this. Seeing her mouth wide open while she sings is just plain disturbing. I'm kinda surprised none of Nintendo's testers brought that up.

Midna wins for best character in a companion but I look at things from a gameplay perspective. Fi and Midna get instant disqualifications because they talk too much and think the player is an idiot. So I prefer Navi and Tatl, who were much humbler companions who let you figure a few things out for yourself. I'll give the Edge to Navi because there are a few very difficult puzzles in Majora's Mask that could have used some kind of hint. Definetly NOT giving away the answer like Fi or Midna but they should be able to tell you when something you're trying isn't working

100% agreed, although I dont know about Tatl not giving enough hints. I honestly dont remember well enough to say on that. I think Fi is the worst about the "hints". I realized something. I dont like people telling me exactly what to do :P. Fi does this, and the issun does this in Okami (the worst of them all). Navi was subtle but helpful. More helpful actually in terms of remembering things or giving you heads up. She doesnt give away exactly what you should be doing all the time. Navi FTW! :P *HEY LISTEN!*

I think King of Red Lions, Tatl and Midna are all about equal in different ways, but they all have a pretty big role in their games.

To me? Midna. She has more personality than sidekicks in previous Zeldas(much more than the robotic Fi). She even had her own little agenda.

I don't know why people are so hard on Fi for telling you things, all the Zelda companions are constantly telling you things, you already know. The only one who needed to do it was Navi, because all this 3D stuff was new, after that it was unnecessary. Even for someone new to the series, since OoT is pretty much the base for all 3D games, they should be able to figure things out. However with Fi, it was fine, because she was a machine designed to pass on information, it only made sense. From a character standpoint it makes perfect sense, that's why I like her.

Midna>Navi>Tatl>King of Red Lions>Fi

Midna had the most personality (Tatl has some too, but she just comes off more like a **** :x), and Fi had none whatsoever. That, and she refuses to shutup when you're hurt and if your controller has low batteries. I'm not sure what to think of her regarding hints though, because I never asked her for help.

i played for two hours with the batteries low, she didn't complain once. all i got was a small icon on the bottom right. same for low shield health, low health, etc. she only talks if you want her to. which is like saying "god damn it that guy in front of the bazaar won't shut up and he keeps saying the same things" and you keep pressing A to talk to him over and over again.

Well i dont mean hints like that. I mean she more tells you exactly where to go and what to do in scenes and whatnot, which is annoying as heck. I agree Fi is the worst, and Midna has the most personality. I also agree Tatl was a **** :P. I think it goes Navi > Midna > King of Red Lions > Tatl > Fi, if I am remembering correctly.

It's not her fault that you refuse to change your batteries. She can't read your mind and know exactly what you want. :P

Either change your batteries or don't talk to her at all to avoid her reminding you to change you batteries.

lol why are you exaggerating? If she told you exactly where to go, there would be no need for dowsing. She does not tell you exactly where to go, unless I assume you ask for the answer. If you want to give me an example, go over to the story thread and tell me what your talking about.

that has to be one of the biggest overreactions i've seen so far (i mean the whole bug thing). people are acting as if it takes forever to do it, but it's like 2 seconds. i don't mind it at all, and don't see why others would.

It takes 10-15 seconds and is pure dead time and utterly useless. Every time it happens it seems it takes a little longer than the last time. It is putrid game design and I usually take the time to find ways to collect resources in a way that subverts it (like using the beetle to pick it up)

lol your right, its one of the programmers fault. Probably the same guy who decided every time you pick up a bug or material for the first time in a playtime, you will see what it is and how many you have ;).

that has to be one of the biggest overreactions i've seen so far (i mean the whole bug thing). people are acting as if it takes forever to do it, but it's like 2 seconds. i don't mind it at all, and don't see why others would.

more like 8 seconds given the little text thing then the menu and all that. It isnt terrible, but its a really stupid and annoying design decision. Which brings me to another issue. It wouldnt be so bad, if you didnt collect this stuff ALL THE TIME. It seems to me like almost everything is way to plentiful and easy to get. The only thing I dont have enough of is Tumbleweed :P. Is there any other use for materials, or do i just have boat loads for no reason?

It takes 10-15 seconds and is pure dead time and utterly useless. Every time it happens it seems it takes a little longer than the last time. It is putrid game design and I usually take the time to find ways to collect resources in a way that subverts it (like using the beetle to pick it up)

*beetle stops*

*grows arm*

*holds up item*

du nu nu nuH!

i don't know, other than the eldin ore (i'm early in the game), everything has dropped at a fine pace. i don't always have enough materials for everything (even when it's only materials i already have), but i do obtain them at a pace fast enough to not feel like it'll be hours of grinding to get them if i decide i need some extras.

Midna is easily the besrt side-kick imo. I like Fi as a character fine but appearance wise she still creeps me out.

BrunoBRS

but dat mini skirt. and those stockings. and that whole "master" business. Fi is kinky.

Haha, I guess so. :P

Ah, so your early in the game ;). lol I just beat it, and my take is items come too often. But I might be thorough, and I always have medals equipped, since I usually dont need bottles for extra life or anything. They should have had fewer slots for medals/bottles/ect IMO. The only time I stocked up on bottles and life was at the end.

I didn't mind, gave me a chance to see how many of each item I had. I only got annoyed when I would have something like fifty jelly blobs and the game still felt it necessary to explain to me what a jelly blob was.
