I don't know if this idea has been stated before but I thought it would be cool if some games could manipulate the blue Wii light. For example, if there are enemies in the area or secrets (stone of agony fro OOT) it could start glowing. Also the intensity could be changed depending on the circumstances. Like Frodo's sword from LOTR.

Good idea, but it will probably not happen, at least not the gen, unless they somehow make it an accesory.

intersting but kind of useless, there are other ways like maybe a sound from the Wii-mote or something on screen flashes. I don't want to have too look at the Wii all the time, also people have their wii's in different places.

ya thats true, but still it would be cool like you are playing a horror game at night and then like blue glow fills up the room.

Some people might confuse that with what the blue light is actually supposed to tell you; that you have new messages or downloads.

Prior to buying the wii, i've had the premonition that the blue light would always remain on (or some way to turn it on/off). However, after i bought it, doesn't look as sharp as it did in the ad - kinda like those pictures of McD's big Macs on the menu compared with the real thing.

Well, thats not really too practical....
Wouldnt a rumble be enough?? And with the blue light...you would have to quit your focus on the screen to see the console... that isn't practicall at all!!

Well I guess this would all depend on where you place your Wii but in most cases Its probably no problem. Also it can iluminate to different degrees for example the light gets stronger as you get closer to an enemy or something.

that is a great idea. to expand on it, i think it would be awesome if you could customize the color of the light.  for example if your playing like resident evil you could have the light red or depending on what tunic link is wearing it would change to that color. and for explosions it would be a bright white light.  but yea some 'manipulation' would be sweet!

yeah, but, c'mon now, you don't really have to look at the Wii to know it's glowing, you'd see it through the side of your sight, and then divert your eyes for mere seconds.

Reminds me of the time I first played Doom III on my PC. I thought it was important to go get a candelabra and set up tealight candles. Doom III + later than midnight + candle-lit room = awesome.

I think it would be too distracting.  Trying to watch the TV and looking over at the Wii drive.  That's just me though.

Wow, that instantly gave me images of Frodo's sword Sting pulsating a blue hue whenever orcs were nearby, that is such a great idea!

That is great idea!!!!

Sounds similar to the Dreamcast.  OnRE:Code Veronica... your health meter and stuff was on that little screen on the controller.  You could do something similar to that... or like the tracker in the film Aliens...

Yeah, what a feeling! Imagine! That's something for Nintendo that want gameplay over all! Great idea Mop-Head! But it could also be useless if it's bright where you play and you don't wanna focus if the blue light starts to glow.

I really like the idea.  It wouldn't be for critical elements of the game, obviously, but neither was the stone of agony in OoT like you mentioned.  Plus, I don't see why it couldn't happen this gen.  It's just a software/hardware interaction that can be built into the game, I imagine.  I'd LOVE to see Nintendo get into this, cuz that little blue light is kind of the sexiest thing about the whole console (non-gaming related, of course).

I like the idea, not sure on it's practicality but it would be cool.
