Well I made a thread about considering buying a Wii, and finally bought one earlier today. Sold a bunch of my xbox games that I never play so it worked out well. Anyway I got the Black200.00 dollar one with M+ and Wii Sports/Resort. Also got Zelda TP and SM Galaxy. Anything else I should look out for that I may overlook. Im going to be honest I have notpaid much attention to the Wii at all so im farily ignorant ATM.

I almost got RE4 Wii Edition, but decided to stick with just 2 games atm because I beat RE4 on the Gcube 50 times, and atleast a dozen times on the PC. Im still gonna get it eventually though. Does the M+ only work on certain games or do the controls improve on all games?

1) For games, use the recommendation sticky. I don't agree with that rule, but it's a rule.

2) Are you hooking it up to an HDTV? If that's the case, buy component cables. Once you have them, go to the Wii's settings and change the screen to 16:9 and 480P. Don't be afraid of third party brands, just check what the users at amazon say about that specific set of cables. I have a Mad Catz set and I haven't had a single issue.

3) For Gamecube games, you'll need a Gamecube controller and a Gamecube Memory Card.

4) Buy the Monster Hunter Tri bundle with the new cl4ssic controller. The game is good, the controller is good, and it's a pretty good deal.

5) You can store Wiiware/Virtual Console games on an SD card and launch them from the SD menu. Any SD card will do. 2 to 4 gigs should be enough, but you can use any card up to 32 Gigs.

I just bought my 3d wii, 2 days ago and am already regretting my purchase. I bought my first one when it first came out, ended up selling it due to lack of good games, made a good profit because they were still scarce. Bought my 2nd off craigslist for SMG, had that one for a while then sold it for a profit, lack of games again. I bought this one foe $100 off craigslist for SMG2, I rented new super mario bros and punch out, cant bring myself to want to keep playing for more then 20 min or so, meh It seems I have out grown nintendo for good, I didnt want to but compared to the other games I play these seem so cheap and hollow.

facinating story, thanks for helping provide such useful information.

The recommendation pretty much covers all your needs unless you like DBZ then DBZ BT-3 is a blast. Theres alot of good games to be had but if I could only recommend 3 personal must-haves they would be Monster Hunter 3, Okami, and Mario Kart... ok 4 NSMBW too especially if you can get up to 3 players to join in the fun.

This will probably be locked because of the very unuseful recommended thread, but for now I'll recommend. New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Okami, Dead Space Extraction, No More Hereos 1 and 2, Red Steel 2, Boom Blox Bash Party, and Punch Out. Also Wiiware has some amazing games like Lostwinds 1 & 2, NyxQuest, The Bit Trip Series, World of Goo, Tetris Party, Dr. Mario Online Rx, Excite Bike World Rally, Warioware DIY Showcase, Art of Balance, Magnetica Twist, and Bust-a-move. Of course the Virtual Console has tons of great games too if you like games from old systems. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is way better with Wii controls and is almost a new game, although if you've played it over 50 times it may not be worth it, and Wii Motion plus only works with certain games. The only big games it works for at the moment other than WSR are Red Steel 2 and Tiger Woods 10 & 11, but it will work with the upcoming Zelda game.

Advid-Gamer: It's unfortunate that you no longer have the taste for such excellent games. Clearly, purchasing a Wii was a mistake for you. You should have considered the game library you wanted to play before you bought the system for them. This appears to be basic common sense to me. My advice is to try out more games for the system since you already have it. It's not the system. It's the games. Play games, not systems. Fizzman: There are healthy bunch of recommendations in the Recommendations thread. I'll try not to waste your time by recommending games that have already been mentioned or are in the thread. Muramasa: The Demon Blade - technical 2D brawler with light leveling and tech-tree (RPG) elements. Japanese myth-inspired. Spectrobes: Origins - graphics are budget but battle system and sculpting game are really nice. Story is strictly Saturday Morning Cartoon. 20 hour action-JRPG. Dawn of Discovery - budgeted streamlined version of the PC game. Not the same game. That said, highly entertaining city builder game. 'bout 14 hours long.

I'd say Little King's Story for an epic single player game, and Mario Kart for a great multiplayer one.
