BRAWL Question.....Help!

Ok. I'm over 4 hours into the Adventure Mode (30%). I've beaten the Master Hand twice on Classic Mode with 2 different characters.

I still haven't unlocked any characters besides Marth! How the heck am I supposed to play as Solid Snake, R.O.B., etc.?!?!?

I don't want to have to play this game for two years before I unlock cool characters. What do I need to do?!?!

BTW some characters you many have to go out of your way for in subspace, like jiggz

Thanks. Any idea how I can guage how far I am? I know I'm a little over 4 hrs. I just beat some huge robot guy with Meta Knight, Ike, and Marth. Then a video showed him fall through the ground. Afterward, Pokemon Trainer and the little blonde kid saw that same robot machine falling through their ceiling. Anyway, that's the level I'm on.

You can play group brawl on Shadow Moses Island 15 times to get snake.
