i actually prefered the levels in the n64 game more than any of these games, because of the fact they never brought hyrule castle back a personal favourite and of course saffron city too, although in this new game i really love delfino plaza, halberd and luigi's mansion but on a whole i feel at a loss without my 2 favourite levels in any of the games.
Also, i've made remakes of them in stage builder which was a great idea unfortunately the limits of the tools constantly irritate me beyond belief
as much as I love Brawl, I think Melee had better stages. It seems like every stage is just too simple - I think they just wanted to be safe and not make levels too gimmicky, but I wish there was more stuff going for each level. I mean, animal crossing level - and base platform, and a moving platfoarm - come on. Meta Knight's level - a base platform and a non moving floating platform - I could do the very limited stage builder (without the pretty backgrounds). That aside though, it's still the best game I've played in years
i like brawl, let me just get that out there. but im tired of playing through levels that i have to be more concerned about keeping up with the screen than kickin butt and taking names. to many unnecessary distraction in a handful of levels on brawl. but the melee stages that have been touched up are nice.

Anyway,
Brawl has the best IMO. Luigi's mansion music is great I agree. I also really like the new Mario Bros one that looks like the old NES game. But the side scrolling one sucks to play on.
And then of course the a million stages you can make...
