Breath of the Wild Boss question (no spoilers)

...So, um, can you LEAVE a boss fight? I am in one where I cant defeat the boss with the weapons I have. Yet leaving the area seems to result in my death. So...um...do I have to start over?

you are at one of the huge mechanical animals right? a divine beast?

right when you enter the animal the blue circle lights up and you can warp anytime you want to there or any place on the map.

Just load an earlier save if your having trouble, the game is pretty good on staggered autosaves.
