I'm gonna say "no". The Bubsy series as a whole is known to be one of, if not the, worst "create a mascot" game francises in the 90's.

The whole world is against Bubsy. He was a throw-away mascot, with a short lifespan. Much like the "I didn't do it" fad of Bart Simpson.

Bubsy was nothing more than a sonic knock-off. It was the SNES way of showing they too could have a game move fast and have an enemy always right at the end of the run to ruin all the fun of running fast.

Basically the last two posters summed it up. The first one for the SNES and Genesis was passable at best, but the one that was in 3D...there's a special place in designer hell for the team that made THAT mess!

I thought the first Bubsy was a great platformer. The other two not so much.

I loved Bubsy back in the day, even though the one on PS1 was total crap. The original was a lot of fun.

I liked James Pond as well. That was such a weird series for me as a kid for some reason. Probably wouldn't be as fun to me nowadays, but I liked it a lot as a kid. Part two was better than part three. Never played the first one.

Why does every plat-forming character have to be some sort of mascot in so many of your minds? I don't get it. How does a character in plat-forming escape from not being a mascot wannabe then? Geez.

I was going to bring Gex up earlier, but I decided not to. For such a cheesy character, I actually liked that little smart-mouthed gekko. His games may have been average and the character's jokes bad, but it all didn't come off as corny and generic as other platforming games of the same kind. I think Gex was one of the better mascot wannabes.

So I thought Gex was alright, but then again the last time I played one of his games was when I was about 13, so my tastes since then have definitely changed. Probably couldn't stand to play a couple of levels in if I picked it up now.

Also, to users wondering why there's so much hate for characters like these, I think a large part of it is due to the fact that while some of these games may have been somewhat entertaining, they all featured rip-off characters. All the "mascot" games were blantly stealing character traits and gameplay design from either Sonic or Mario, especially Sonic in the character trait department. There were so many "in you face", "edgy" anthropomorphic animal dudes with "plenty of 'tude" in the 90's, it was ridiculous!

If their respective series' had lasted longer, or if their games at least had something truely memorable or outstanding, then there would be more love for the characters. At least that's what I think.

I haven't heard about Bubsy the Cat in years! I highly doubt it will see release on the Virtual Console, but I suppose you never know.

I didn't get into gaming until the N64, so I didn't know about Bubsy until I saw his face in a Game Informer Magazine as the #1 worst video game mascot of all time.

I did remember Gex, though. Had some fun for a little while, then stopped playing it for good.
