I've been playing the Wii a bit more than usual lately thanks to Super Paper Mario, but not for insane, hours-on-end periods. Starting today, I noticed afairly loudbuzzing noise coming from the machine while it was running, not loud enough to say, hear across the house, but definitely loud enough to hear during gameplay. It sounds kind of like one of those power transformer boxes you find next to the sidewalk sometimes. The left side of it also feels a bit warm, but it was warm once in the past, and that just went away on its own.

I noticed it this morning, and so decided to shut it off for awhile. When I came back to it this afternoon, it still buzzed when I turned it on and still felt warm on the side. Theres no obvious problems during gameplay, apart from the noise, and like I said before, I'm not playing it for insanely long intervals, maybe an hour or two at a time. So, should I be worried? Anyone know what could be wrong, if its going to be a problem, or cause problems in the future, what I should do, etc?

Go on something like the Mii Channel or the Internet Channel. If the buzzing stops, we know its something to do with your disk drive. I always say it's better to be safe than sorry, so I'd call Nintendo and report the problem if I were you. Loud buzzing is never a good sign

Well if it's like a transformer like you say it is that's not very loud.

I had this as well.. Pick up the Wii when the disk is spinning. When I did that, the buzzing stopped and I carefully put it back in its stand and it never returned. I doubt it's anything to worry about though man.

:lol:I NEED THE MAGIC TOUCH!

Seriously though, looks like it is the disk drive, it only buzzed when a disk was in there, and stopped when I used the net. And I picked it up while it was running, its definitely inside the machine. Ahh well, perhaps I'll just avoid using it until tomorrow, you'd be surprised how many little things like that tend to get fixed with my "Just let it sit overnight" remedy.

Wiierror.com Do not move the console when the disk is being read you can scratch the disk that way.

Chances are the fan went off kilter for a second. Shut the console off and start it up again, should be gone.
