By a game before the console?

I am probably gonna get a Wii within the next month, along with Wii Play.

I could go get Wii Play right now, so I could have something to look at, and have a wii remote to gaze at (I haven't really used own yet).

Is this wise or should I wait? 

I dont recomend wii play , its not all that great . Super paper mario on the other halfZel-duh

Well, if you're getting the extra controller anyway, it's only 10 bucks for Play. I'd say it's worth about that. 

I got a controller before I got my Wii becuase I knew there'd be shortages. Being a Nintendo fan all my life and being hyped about the Wii for years (i watched live updates of TGS '05 when the controller was unveiled and later the entire translated conference), it felt good to finally have my hands on the controller.

 I can't say if a non-fanboy would feel the same as me, so my opinion's null anyways.

Actually, I had Zelda TP, a remote and a nunchuck before I had my system. I went to meijer at midnight and got my controllers since I was getting the system elsewhere. My friend worked at a computer store and his boss said they could order wii's and then we could avoid the masses. Well, the wii's never arrived so I camped the saturday the next Saturday night and got my system.

 It drove me nuts having zelda and the controllers but having them gave me hope lol. Also I was filming the end of a movie I was working on the week I was waiting and I used the controllers as props. I just never showed the tv screen. It was kinda funny looking back.

In terms of buying a game before the system. Go for it, Wii Play is worth it as a bonus with the remote, but you should consider a game that will keep you interested for more than a few days. Just make sure you have enough money when you get to the store to buy the Wii.
