[QUOTE="santiagochile"][QUOTE="Generic_Dude"] [QUOTE="GabuEx"]I could understand them not bringing it to the Wii, except for the fact that they brought it to the DS of all things. That's just weird.Generic_Dude
That's a compelling point... instinctively I'd say "That's crazy... they can't scale this down for the Wii..." but I forgot the DS version. I haven't played that, but it's almost certainly terrible.
I've got two hopes for Nintendo's future, really:
(1) That instead of releasing abysmal 360/PS3 to Wii ports (like a theoretical COD4 port), they focus more on original IPs that are designed to cater to this console's strengths, of which graphics are not one.
(2) That next generation, Nintendo releases a comparably powerful system to their competitors. I understand that Nintendo's console fortunes pre-Wii were a little meager, but now that the Wii is a worldwide phenomenon, I'm hoping that they go back to at least getting in the same ballpark.
You know nothing about Nintendo. Nintendo was making money off the Gamecube. They didn't launch the Wii to be cheap, they launched the Wii to change gaming. If you think the next Nintendo will be as powerful as the PS4, you are deluded. I bet the next Wii at most will look close to what the PS3 looks like now. Nintendo's strategy is to shift the focus of games away from graphics and onto gameplay. The graphics on the Wii are fine for me. I don't see how Nintendo would shift to a money losing strategy like the one you suggest when they are doing so well with an underpowered console.
You, sir and/or madam, are the deluded one, believing everything that Reggie Fils-Aime spoonfeeds you. I know nothing about Nintendo? I've purchased every console and handheld they've released in the US. I've owned most of the peripherals as well -- ROB, the NES Zapper, the NES Advantage, the NES Max, the SNES Super Scope, the Gameboy light/magnifier combo, the N64 memory expansion, the GBA adapter for Gamecube... yadda yadda.
I had a Nintendo Power subscription since before your parents discovered that the condom broke and that you would be inconveniencing the world around you within the next 9 months. The N64 tanked, the Gamecube was a bomb, the Wii was their last chance to remain relevant in the console world... and they did it by looking at what made the DS so successful and replicating it on a larger scale. And it worked, obviously, in a big way. I'm not trying to flame here, I'm giving you information. And if you're going to close your ears, you should close your mouth along with it.
actually he was right, nintendo did make money off the gamecube, and the wii wasn't their last chance. Nintendo were actually the only console to make money off their hardware last generation. microsoft were about in as much debt as nintendo made (which was around a few billion) and sony made a bit of money from their software.
Nintendo could easily have gone the high graphics high cost route, but why when there are two consoles doing that perfectly fine (and boringly I may add).
