Well, the next Call of Duty is still going to be modern warfare and it is coming to the wii. Will this be one of the great Wii fps that we have been waiting for? Discuss...

P.S. sorry if old :P

"Despite widespread rumors that the next Call Of Duty will head back to its WWII origins, Activision confirmed that Call Of Duty 5 is in fact underway and that it will keep its healthy "modern warfare" trend."

That's great!

"We'll drive category sales of downloadable maps and enhanced Call of Duty 4 retail SKUs." "

Could this mean that downloadable content could come to the Wii version as well? That would be great. We can only hope :(.

From the article:

"We'll launch on all four platforms we participated on in fiscal 2008 plus we will launch on the PS2 and the Wii"

I never get a good feeling when I hear PS2 and Wii right next to each other...

I hope it does come to the Wii. I've really wanted to play Call of Duty 4, but I'm too poor to afford and xbox360 or ps3. The Wii is definitely lacking a good fps.

I was happy till I saw "PS2". Now I'm pretty sure it's going to be a PS2 port but hopefully it will have Wi-Fi and downloadable maps. Controls should be good if they choose to follow MP3 and MOHH2's control schemes

It's going to suck, but it's still going to sell, so it's not like they'll care.

MP3?

it's not the Wii's fault people don't understand how to implement the controls properly.

Are we just talking about controls?

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 did have excellent controls, but the game itself sucked for a number of reason.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, on the other hand, was a good game. It did feel like the Prime series evolved from an FPA to an FPS.

I mean for crying out loud, Guitar Hero 3 has Wi-Fi. Treyarch needs to stop living like it's 2005 and realize that the Wii is an online machine that is more than capable of working better than a last-gen console.

Like I said before, I was greatly dissappointed by COD3. Unless someone at Treyarch proves that COD5 will perform and look better on Wii than PS2, I don't even want to touch the title.

with Treyarch at the helm with COD5, i'm not really optimistic about any iteration of the game....hopefully when COD6 rolls around, IW will be able to put out a solid Wii COD title.

"We'll launch on all four platforms we participated on in fiscal 2008 plus we will launch on the PS2 and the Wii"

They make it sound like they're throwing us Wii owners a bone like, "Oh ya and we're making a Wii version," in the sort of "I don't care" tone. That's just how it sounds to me especially after CoD3.

Don't worry, the timeframe in which the game exist doesn't change the fact that the developer sucks.

Sounds like something is not going to go right there, espeacially since IW isn't making the game. They better learn how to make use of the Wii's motion censor for aiming and stuff. I hope it will control like Metroid Prime 3. and for driving, I don't mind using the Wii mote to drive vehicles but if they do something stupid like shake the Wii mote to plant the bomb, insert the fuse... then I'm not getting this game.

In addition to announcing new platforms, Activision also revealed that Call of Duty 5 would again shift the setting of the series. "We'll bring the intensity of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to a new military theater to engage our significantly larger user base which nearly doubled last year as new users came into the franchise," said Griffiths. (Emphasis added.) Recent unconfirmed rumors had the series returning to World War II, the conflict in which all games prior to COD4 were set in. The publisher did not say if series creator Infinity Ward or Treyarch (Call of Duty 3, Spider-Man 3) was developing the project.Gamespot

I've seen some people in this thread saying that the game is being developed by Treyarch, but everything I've read says that Activision hasn't said who will be developing the game. Anyone have links to a reliable site with a direct quote from Activision stating it will be Treyarch?

Some people think that it's being developed by Treyarch because it has not even been a year since CoD4 was released, and Infinity Ward's CoD games have been released every two years.

Lol Treyarch throw yourself over a cliff or something. A group of goddamn apes are going to do the porting job and it will be almost unplayable like Cod3 was.

Well, that's certainly been the trend in the past. I'm wondering, though, since Treyarch is currently working on a new James Bond game due out around the same time as Quantum of Solace (late October / early November), they may not have the resources to work on two big games simultaneously. Of course, that's just a thought... and a bit of wishful thinking.;)

Im a little more worried about the online component of the Wii version. I dont expect the graphics to be great on Wii. I probably will not buy the Wii version...because of the online.
