Why bother hyping it? It will just be a crappy ported version with tacked on motion controls.Weddum
Yeah because you're developing it right?
It's using the CoD4 engine, is different from the PS2 version and has Zapper support. Zapper support is enough to prove the controls aren't going to suck, but ontop of that the devs said they're really trying to make it the best Wii FPS.
If it's back to the old WW2 roots then I'm not on the hype train. If it does use the COD4 engine then I'm all for it.Lunar52
well its doing both. so what happens then?
Well here some info about it:
- they believe that the Wii hasn't been pushed to its limits yet
- Wii version will support everything that is in the other versions
- there is a secret concerning co-op play, which is to be revealed later
- CoD4 engine on Wii reconfirmed
- camera and controls are taking a top priority "For example, if you're climbing on a hill, in a game, you'd have to adjust the point of view manually... but that's not as in reality, where you would instinctively look a bit higher over your head. That's the kind of adjustment we've obtained working on cameras on Wii version."
- more fluid movements for shooting
- Zapper support reconfirmed - details unclear, but you'll be doing typical Zapper stuff (aim off-screen to reload)
- Main game runs at 30FPS, online is 30FPS as well
Sound impressive.

I think the co-op play secret is for the second player its a rail shooter (based on video at E3)
Hype a crappy game? nah.. even if it uses the CoD4 engine, it still has bad graphics. The recent screen shots showed that it looked about as bad as a PS2 game.King-gamerWhat? The screens were far superior to a ps2

Which is a really cheap way of doing co op...

What difference does when the game takes place make, honestly? It's not as if WWII games are actually that common on consoles.
Why bother hyping it? It will just be a crappy ported version with tacked on motion controls.Weddum
Exactly
I thought the whole point of this new game was to emphasise on the intensity of WW2 battles. And 30fps? Now I remember why I gave up on consoles. The Wii version will be a dumbed down version with tacked on motion controls, and I stick to that. Get yourselves hyped over it all you want, but its likely you'll be disappointed. Then again, so will everybody else on every other console. WW2 games should have died years ago.Weddum
Exactly again, except I like consoles...
WWII games are incredibly boring
That 30fps is wrong. The site who posted that info got it wrong. Its 60 FPS offline and 30 online.
Online is 12 players. This game will be better than MOH 4 sure. You've gotta be smokin if you think this game looks like a ps2 game after watching the trailer. We haven't even seen direct feed of the trailer either.
The controls will at the least be better than Metroid's, I expect them to be up to par with MOH too.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Treyarch has stated MANY times that the Wii version is being developed sepperate from the other versions and will NOT be a PS2 port!
I'm hyping the living hell out of this game, if you people don't think that this is a gigantic step above MOH:H2 than your blind or ignorant.

If you go over to the 360 boards, you'll see no one's hyped. I don't think people should be hyped over a Wii verson of a game and not the verson on the other consoles. GamerJM
I would be hyped up for the PC version, but I not sure if my coumpter can handle it. If it does then I would go with that version and just rent the Wii version.

Didn't you already try to argue this point with me on a different thread and I gave you a gazzillion links to look at? I remember you also said MOH:H2 looked better..................This also coming from a guy who thinks NMH is worth buying, at least COD5 doesn't look like a N64 game.

Yes, this game looks just about as bad (if not worse) than MOH:H2 did. You never answered my question. If it's not a PS2 port than why does it have PS2 graphics?
And where did you pull that NMH thing from? Yes, I own that game but I think it's the most overrated game on the Wii.

Oh so I see you guys have played the game and know everything about it
Send me a copy yeah?

100% behind you on that my friend. More void of life more so than TP which is another overrated game imo.

In my opinion it does not have PS2 graphics (yes I know its not 360 graphics either), if you watch the E3 demo video the lighting effects, animations, particle effects etc blow MOH:H2 out of the water at least IMO.
NMH is on that banner in your sig, at least we agree NMH is over rated, only game so far I regret buying on Wii.

it is back to ww2, but not the european battle that we've seen SO many TIMES !! its against the japanese, and it is going to use the CoD4 engine...
It's not time to hype it yet. With Treyarch developing it I'm not even ready to hype it for the consoles it will almost certainly be better on.
Co-Op and the pacific are nice though. Although it probably won't be online co-op on the Wii.
I'm convinced that more then half of gamers especially on the Wii, don't know squat when it comes to graphics, hell they are quite stupid when they comment about the issue. Most notable is the liberal use of the term N64 graphics to most Wii games, when in fact while underused in that department most Wii games have high end Dreamcast to mid-ranged PS2 graphics. Go look at blurry, low-res, polygonal N64 screenshots before seriously giving the moronic statement of Wii games looking like N64 games.
Now back to COD:World at War, I have seen the screenshots and more importantly I have seen the video at IGN. Let me tell you wether you like WW2 shooters or not, you should at-least acknowledge that this game looks like a serious 3rd party effort on the Wii. While COD4 engine used obviously doesn't look as good as it would look like on the PS360, as far as Wii games go it looks awesome. The textures, the animation, lighting, fire, smoke and particle effects clearly look superior to anything on the PS2. This looks nearly as good as the Conduit and MP3:Corruption, and it already looks better then MoH:Heroes 2. Plus the rumor i heard is that the PS2 version may have quietly been cancelled, which wouldn't surprise me because this doesn't look like a PS2 port.
