Actually, SD and Memory Stick are competing formats. They're not compatible with one another, and will only fit in the same slot if said slot is designed to read multiple formats (something found on a lot of laptops now, not the Wii however).

They're made by SanDisk too. Ther'e just another type of SD card. I think :?

 

It's driving me mad that I can't put my pro duo SD into the Wii with out breaking it :(

SD Card = Secure Digital Card

A format that was, ironically, co-developed by SanDisk. Anyway, when a product says it uses SD cards, it's talking about this format, NOT the company SanDisk (which is just one of many manufactures that produce SD and Memory Stick cards... along with other formats such as xD and Compact Flash).
