It's fine playing it as a lefty, I was really upset about no left flip option pre-launch, and anyone who was posting during that time can tell you I was pitching a fit over it, but Nintendo designed it well so that the sword is pretty centered during combat, so which hand you hold the remote in is irrelevant.
hmm, so i was right after all :DIt's fine playing it as a lefty, I was really upset about no left flip option pre-launch [...] but Nintendo designed it well so that the sword is pretty centered during combat, so which hand you hold the remote in is irrelevant.

i don't get what's with lefties and their right arms. you're a lefty not an amputee, you're not going to die (or even have trouble) swinging your right arm. i played all 40 hours of it fine with the wiimote in my right hand, just like i can just as skillfully hold a knife in my right hand to eat.BrunoBRS
Gaming should be comfortable. Using your other hand for something you want to use with your left hand is not comfortable. :/

like i said, 40 hours perfectly fine. the game doesn't demand you to do anything even remotely complex with your right hand, i don't see what people are complaining about.I'm left handed and I'm playing it fine. Although it is a bit tedious when attacking enemies because I'm left handed and go for a swipe, it sometimes goes backwards and doesn't hit exactly where I am trying to hit, because of that I haven't been playing much. I'm going to try playing it with my right hand but I doubt there'll be any progress for me there, as I already tried it before and..the Wii-remote didn't even feel comfortable in my right hand lol

Are you even left handed?
Holding a knife in your non-dominant hand to eat isn't much a problem as trying to swing the wii-remote, aim the slingshot/bow etc. Some people have different tolerances and people are 'left' or 'right' handed for a reason. Just because it's easy for you doesn't make it easy for the next guy, be considerate.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see how using the control stick with your right hand would be comfortable either. There are lots of people, with lots of different situation, cant cater to all of them. The option should be there. Is it a deal breaker? Nope. I just find it funny that Nintendo refuses to acknowledge the millions of people who aren't righties.

The game just does that really. I'm right handed and sometimes it swings right when you swing left and vice versa regardless of what hand you're using. It's usually not the game's fault either, it's usually yours and you're not even noticing your swinging wrong in the heat of battle. I've learned to take my time with my swings and they are a lot more accurate.
The irony is Nintendo acknowledged the 90% of people who are wrong handed instead of keeping Link left handed which would have benefited the 10% who are left handed. In that regard, the acknowledged the vast, vast majority of wrong handed users instead of the left handed users. The option should be there. Is it a deal breaker? Nope. The way people complain, you would think so. Does a lefty open every door with their left hand? If you can open a door with your offhand, you can play this game with it. There is absolutely no need for a left handed option, their not asking you actually use a sword, their telling you to move a controller around. If you cant move your offhand in any direction, video games are the least of your worries lol.Sepewrath
Just curious, if there were only the option to play the game with the Wii Remote in your left hand, how would you feel about that?
Anyway, I'm left-handed and I had no problems with the controls. In fact, considering that the joystick/dpad has been on the left side since I started playing games, controlling it the other way around would be harder for me.

i would feel awkward, because i spent the past 20 years gaming with the Dpad/analog to control my character on the left hand, not the right, and with the face buttons on the right, not the left.^ yes i am left handed. and i'm pretty sure left handed people don't do every single thing with their left hands while pretending to not have a right arm, just like right handed people don't ignore their left arms.BrunoBRS
Yeah, of course.. but, for example I'm left handed and, while I use both hands... when I play games on the PC or Wii the mouse/remote is in my left hand, because my left hand is more accurate, and it feels more comfortable. The same thing when I am writing
Even a normal game controller could make a game tedious to play at times because of how comfortable or uncomfortable it is when you hold it, that's all I'm saying. I wasn't saying it's impossible for us leftys to use our right hands/arms but it does depend on how comfortable you are playing, and that will be different for everyone

Oh, I thought I was just playing like an idiot xD Those enemies with the wooden shields (forgot what they're called) don't give me enough time to time my swings though, so I just dodge and spin attack most of the time lol.
I lost a few hearts just trying to defeat 4 or 5 enemies surrounding me, that's never been the case for me so I guess I should just take my time.. After playing Twilight Princess on the Wii all the time my brain keeps forgetting I'm even using motion plus and I just flail the remote like you could in TP :P

1. Link was ambidextrous in the older games, not just left-handed. When facing to the right, he swung with his right hand
2. Unless the game is a direct sequel to another game (Majora's Mask, Phantom Hourglass), each Link is different. Who says that every single one of those Links have to use the same hand as his ancestors? Right-handed people can have left-handed children, and vice versa.
I find all this "incorrect hand" stuff ridiculous. I can kind of understand why left-handed people might want the option to play with their left hands, though I do agree with some people here that say it probably shouldn't be that bad to control either way (I think I'd be fine with playing with my left hand, even though I'm a right-handed person, although aiming may be somewhat more challenging), but I don't really understand the argument that this is how it "should be." Are you going to go up to a right-handed son of a left-handed person and tell him that he's using the wrong hand?

...You're taking my post too seriously lolYou know what two games I completed on the Wii entirely through using the wiimote on my left hand on my FIRST playthrough?Twilight Princess (wii version) and Metroid Prime 3. If I wanted to, and I will, I'll do the same with Skyward Sword.
I would find it odd, that they deemed it was time to move the movement controls(analog) to the right hand after 30yrs of the opposite. I play Wii Sports lefthanded, so having the wiimote in my left hand would make no difference to me. It would be having the analog in the right hand that would be weird.Just curious, if there were only the option to play the game with the Wii Remote in your left hand, how would you feel about that?
