Looks like it could be quite fun, or be a waste of $14.99. Anybody want to be a guinea pig?

I'm not quite understanding all the hate on the $14.99 price tag. All of these NES games are selling for (I believe) five dollars a piece. The price per game in this bundle comes out to something like $0.93 a game. That seems like a pretty good deal in my book.
@realjaysonguy: Right, but you're not getting full versions of any of the games, it's simply a compilation of levels and challenges from those games. Which may very well be awesome and worth $15, we just don't know.
Ah, I was not aware that they weren't full versions of the games. That's my mistake. I was highly confused as to why 16 games for 15 dollars was being considered such a potential rip-off.
Ooh, I found this thread with a ton of player impressions. Sorry to reference NeoGAF, but this is exactly what I was looking for:

Sounds great, actually! I'm sold.
ok, so I tried it and really like it. It's just like Wario Ware where you're given a task to quickly do. These games only last about 10 - 30 seconds. I've unlocked 6 (of the 16) NES games and it seems like there will be hundreds of levels/challenges. In Super Mario Bros. alone there are 32 levels. I don't recall seeing how many in the other games.
Some of the challenges are also broken up into sections, for example in Donkey Kong, one challenge starts with you jumping over 3 barrels, then the level resets and you have to break 3 barrels with the hammer, and lastly you have to make it to the top of the level. Those 3 times are then totaled and that becomes your time for the level.
The only negative so far is that there isn't an online leaderboard that I can see. You can obviously post your scores on Miiverse, but I didn't see anything in the game where I can see other people's scores or compare them to my (non-existent Wii U) friends. It could be in a menu that I haven't seen yet.
I saw some encouraging reviews on miiverse. It looks fun since they took some of the best ( revised) sections from those games and made them a challenge to beat. Not sure if I'll get it just yet as I have plenty of games to play. There is always hope it will go on sale.
I got it yesterday, and i had a great time playing it for 2-3 hours nonstop with a buddy. Basically you get stars for completing the challenges, which unlocks additional levels, so there is a lot of anticipation for more remix levels, and games are you progress. They also did a nice job with the rainbow 3 stars. At first we were happy getting 3 stars, there we got a rainbow one, which basically means you mastered/ or got a perfect time/score. Seems like some games were a little easier than others. Like the DK ones didn't seem too hard, but Excitbike was really hard to get a perfect score. I thought.
All in all a GREAT idea for the Wii U. This will be the first time many young fans get to see some of these classics, and i think it's presented in a way they will enjoy. Even myself and missed out on some of these NES classics (Balloon Fight) and didn't realize how much fun they could be. Also makes you want to check out the fill version too. The Remix levels are a awesome addition too. It was cool to see how they re-did classic Mario/Zelda/Donkey Kong games. I'd easily pay 15$ for this game. You get a lot of bang for the buck. Anyone on the bubble.... GET IT!
Also, this could lead to more of these.... NES Remix 2 with Potentially ( Mario 2, +3, Zelda 2, Punch Out, Metroid, Mega Man's, Castlevania, Double Dragon , ETC) THen they could also Remix full games too. The ideas are limitless.
THen.... Don't forget about SNES Remix......
Take my money Nintendo.... just take it.

This.
And yeah, while everyone is focusing on potential remix games for other systems (e.g. SNES, Gameboy, etc.), there's still plenty of other NES games they could cover. I mean, most of the NES games in the NES remix are only from the first generation of NES games.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a failure on "most" review sites. The game is what it is, a Wario Ware type of game with NES game-based levels. Nothing more. If you're inclined to like that type of game, you'd probably love this. If every game needs to have a huge story, great depth, and a long quest, then this is not for you.
