alright i'm sure some of you think this will be a flame topic or a troll but its not. i just notice that the ps3 and 360 are gearing up for another three years and they have massive third party support compared to the wii.

also nintendo has already used most of there big guns kirby, donkey kong, metroid etc and the three nukes galaxy as well as zelda skyward sword.

my question is what will the next three years bring cuz aside from zelda and pikmin as well as a possible localization of the last story and xenoblade whats left

We'll see when it happens - After this year, we'll see what's up and coming.Right now we've got a good line up coming:

  • Donkey Kong Country Returns
  • Epic Mickey
  • Goldeneye Wii
  • COD: Black Ops
  • Conduit 2 (For those of you..)
  • Sonic Colors
  • Lost In Shadow
  • uDraw Studio (Potential to become a great peripheral)
  • De Blob: The Underground
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
  • FlingSmash
  • Rock Band 3
  • DJ Hero 2
  • Flips Twisted World
  • Mario Sports Mix

Still a lot of good stuff - but as for what else could Nintendo have for us...? Well, Xenoblade and The Last Story aren't localized yet - Neither is Tales of Grace, maybe we can be a bit hopeful lol.

they can bring out a new F-Zero, Pikman, starfox, luigi and mario rpg or paper game, a new luigis mansion, bazillion mario sport games, mario party 6, Pokemon games (hopefully that dont suck), theres heaps for them to pull out, not including third party, I think 3 years is a streach and they will find it very hard after 2years I think, but they will make it.

this is why it can't last anylonger then next holiday. 2010 has most of these and 2011 looks bare. Sure theres Zelda next yeat but beyond that theres a SE Mario Spin off and a couple of RPGs that might make it to NA to sell less then 500 000 copies.

With the many games that have come out this year, lots of devs have been ready for new projects this year. Hopefully there next gen projects

We'll see.

We didn't know about anything for Holiday 2010 until E3 2010 anyway.

Didn't know about Donkey Kong, Kirby, Mario Sports Mix, Epic Mickey (no release date, knew of the game), etc. Nintendo might have a few surprises, or might not.

We'll see soon enough lol.

Wii seems to be winding down a bit imo. I remember lots of talk about all the JRPGs Wii was gettting but they seem to either suck, never be localised, or else be quite average (looking at you, Arc Rise Fantasia...) Not a huge amount of other 3rd party games have I heard of. Nintendo have most of the big stuff out, or out soon. Can't really see another Mario, Zelda, or Metroid on the Wii, already got multiples of each. Maybe Pikmin and F Zero with a few random 3rd party games to last til Christmas 2011? New console? Just random thoughts.

Next year looks bare because Nintendo doesn't usually announce things far in advance. Many of the games coming out this holiday season weren't announced at this point last year so that doesn't really mean anything. We only got to hear about Zelda early because it's a Zelda game. But yeah I'm sure Nintendo will come out with a new console possibly next holiday season but definitely by November 2012. Also I wouldn't really count on the HD systems lasting another 3 years especially if Nintendo launches a new system. You can't always believe in PR spin, there is no way Microsoft or Sony would let Nintendo go unchallenged in a new generation for very long.

I want an almost Grand Theft Auto sort of F-Zero. I mean seriously, you play as Captain Falcon most of the time, and hes this kick ass superhero. I'd have it so you can free roam around and make it open world with a couple cities and then have you do races still but also get out of your car and kick the crap out of some villains.

Yes i think it can last another 3 years. Whats making the xbox 360 and Ps3 last another 3 years? Answer: Kinect and Move in other words Motion Controls. All the Wii really needs to do is make games. We are starting to see some really really impressive ideas like all them Holiday games coming out. In terms of graphics we are behind but we always been behind in that with the Wii no big deal we got motion controls and the other 2 is just getting them. Its not like Xbox 360 and Ps3 will sell more Consoles then the Wii has. In 3 years i see Wii 2 anyway then the wars begin again with better motion controls and 3-D without the glasses Wii 2 console. They are already selling them kinds of TVs in japan, i read that somewhere online.

Ready!?!

That depends much on the degrees of success attained and gameplay provided by the PS3 move and X360 kinect.

Actually Wii needs abit of a graphical overhaul. The present hardware on Wii is just about a bit faster than the original Xbox.

But frankly I don't care and will keep Wii Sports and Mario Galaxy for more than 3 years and any other! :)

well there's a lot of stuff for 2010/2011, including the vitality sensor (remember it?) and pikmin 3, but i'm not sure it'll stick around for 3 more years. they're still owing us F-zero and starfox at least, and nothing forbids them to use the same franchise a second/third time.

Now, I'm not going to pretend like I know what Nintendo's planning (I mean honestly, who does?) but I don't see the Wii going for another three years. It's got two, tops.

I believe Pikmin 3 will be it's final flourish, showcased at E3 2011. This will be the only chance to hear anything about StarFox or F-Zero for Wii, because if we don't, I fear they'll miss this generation all together. It's not all bad though, Metroid skipped a generation and came back stronger than ever, so it may be the best thing for them.

Nintendo will announce the new home console at they're 2011 fall media summit, but not showcase it properly until E3 2012, to be released the same year.

actually if nintendos new console is only as powerful as the 360/ps3 then yes unfortunately... but if nintendo makes 1080p and 60fps standard with better specs then they would own..

also i feel that nintendo need to use blu-ray next gen... if they use dvd again i will be extremely upset...like devastated.

To be fair, wii's sales are still good and nintendo can drop it's price even more

Nintendo will get it done Nintendo has been making 60FPS games since F-Zero X on the N64 on the GCN they had Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2, and F-Zero GX, on the Wii they have Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, Mario Kart Wii, and some other games. I'm sure Nintendo will have all First Party games run at 60 FPS next gen but 3rd Parties probably not they only want to focus on Graphics so 3rd Parties will lower the framerate to 30 FPS.

Nintendo never focuses on graphics, but some genres like RPGs and adventure games work just fine in 30FPS

Nintendo needs to get a console with high graphical capabiliteis soon after Zelda Skyward Sword.

Not because graphics matter, but because if their consoles hardware is similar to Xbox or Playstation, like it was last gen, then multiplatform games will be the same on all 3 consoles, not what is is now, great games on Xbox 360and PS3, insanely watered down version for Wii. At least for multiplatform games as Nintendo's exclusives tend to kick ass.

It seems worse. I haven't seen graphics on the Wii comparable to Fable, Halo 1 or 2, and a ton of other games. So I don't know, maybe the Wii home menu is taking up some of that processing power or something, but all I know is, if the Wii had original Xbox graphics, I would say definitelly yes. The Wii can last another 3 years because we don't NEED HD graphics. Its just a plus.

Yeah, thats how I feel. Everything and everyone should skip up to Blu-Ray at the least, especially if they aren't doing 3D. Like really, 480p is over way over 5 years old.

The Wii is more powerful than the original XBOX, at least in most aspects. Only a few games have really shown it off though, such as Mario Galaxy. That's more a fault of developers though, not the system itself. It doesn't help that most of the talanted developers that made such great looking Xbox games have moved onto the 360/PS3 and don't want to bother with the Wii. Also I agree more people need to upgrade to Blu-ray. DVD's are pretty old fashioned now, but I don't think its really needed for games quite yet. The 360 has gotten by pretty good using 9GB dual layered DVDs. The 25-50GB blu-ray discs are helpful for some PS3 games (mainly MGS4) but they do load slower causing some games to have to be installed, which can be annoying. Of course Nintendo will use some proprietary format like they always do. They like to have complete control of everything they do and I'm sure that the fact that Sony was a huge influence in the creation of Blu-ray probably doesn't help.

they are roughly equal with the wii being faster and the xbox has better shaders. it also doesn't help the wii that the third party has been lackluster compared to the xbox when it comes to pushing graphics.

Simple answer: No. Wii has been on the decline for some time now. Nintendo thought they found the magic with NSMBWii (hence the 2d side scrollers), but I think they'll find that that had more to do with Mario than the format. I would not be surprised to see the next console next year, at E3 at least.

A lot of developers do stuff on all three systems. You compare 360 and PS3's graphics and you'll basically get the same game. But on the Wii, its always worse than average, even for the original Xbox. And Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best looking games on the Wii, but it still doesn't really compare to the original Xbox, which had 1080p res, 64mb ram, 8gb HDD and a 733MHz processor compared to Wii's 480p res, 88mb ram, 512mb flash memory and a 729MHz processor with a 243 graphics processor as well. For its size, I guess its got a pretty good advantage. But I think Nintendo should realize that most of us don't mind paying another $50 for QUALITY console specs.

well the third party support wii to , for most of the big games we know like nfs nascar 007 call of duty etc

so with that said

even with sells declining a little ,

its not going to hurt nintendo in any way shape or form because remember unlike ps3 360 they make profit on each wii sold

they sold 75 million wiis plus so far , thats 6 dollars per wii ,

thenyou add the games ,

accesso ries

ds and its games and accessories

3ds is coming , , that will boost nintendo up again

and really i dont think this gen is going for another 3 years,

to be honest, i think nintendo is forcing the competition to move on

even sony,

look at what nintendos doing , , -introducing glasses less 3d with the nintendo 3ds

i think , 2011 and 12 will be the last years atleast for the majority of us. on the wii and 360 , just look at the dvd shelf at your walmart

you can clearly see dvds declining,

as a result microsoft will need to make the switch to bluray and without an addon ,, it cant

so i think its safe to say

nintendo can hold on to the lead ,, , if not finish in a decen predicimate

no ones in trouble this gen , ,so whether or not they finish first 2nd or third

they will be able to come out with their next consolewith 0 problems especally nintendo

their handhelds always sav them from any iminent danger!

[QUOTE="AlmightyDerek"][QUOTE="riariases"] Yeah, thats how I feel. Everything and everyone should skip up to Blu-Ray at the least, especially if they aren't doing 3D. Like really, 480p is over way over 5 years old.riariases

The original XBOX was rarely ran in 1080p, even the 360 barely does, and the only reason the Wii doesn't is because Nintendo locked the resolution in. When the resolution is higher it takes even more processing power away lessening the graphics in other ways to compensate. The Wii is more powerful but as I understand it the GPU has less built in graphical features than the XBOX does which pretty much even things out.
