heeeey waait wait wiat, don't think its not possible, you just have to know how to install homebrew (modchips, u know, just as in ds) and then you can place all kinds of homebrew into the wii, including tons of dvd-players (since its very easyto make 1). I dunno hy nintendo hasnt made one yet (???) if even homebrew developers claim it to be really easy, and they've proven it.jmm0070_2nd

Well, the format itself is legal (the support is built into the Wii Photo channel). Uh, how you get content for it depends...

The Japan release in early 2008 features dvd playback.

Anyways, I think it'd be AWESOME if you could watch DVDs on your Wii *secretly installs an HD DVD player on* :P.

I hope though in the near future when they do an "updated" Wii like how they update with the elite, I hope they'll add some DVD function or something. That'd be awesome :). Come on Nintendo pull through for me :).

Sorry, I was reffering to an HD DVD player (since blu ray is the with the whole sony deal).
