You can only use the Gamecube controller for GC games.

I believe you also need a Gamecube memory card to save games.

Except when it comew to lan games. The Wii cannot substitute the GCN's ethernet adapter.

I've also heard that the GBA-to-GCN adapter won't work either.

That's not true, because I've used it myself. The Wii essentially becomes a GC, and anything that can interface with the side and back-- the controller sockets, the memory card ports, and the audio/visual output (meaning that GC games can be played in progressive scan on the Wii just like they could on a GC).

The problem is that there's no substitute for the two serial ports (one of which housed the modem or ethernet adaptor, while the other one never got used) or the Hi-Speed port (for the Game Boy Player-- I miss this), which is why they don't work.

I repeat, the GC-GBA link cable works fine, since it uses the GC controller sockets. I played Zelda: Four Swords Adventures with it just 2 weeks ago.

Hmm, interesting. I recieved a PM awhile back from Merch saying that he'd tried the same game, and it didn't work. (of course this was many months back, so perhaps the issue was fixed with one of the FW updates)

Yeah, but I just wanted to make it clear to the TC that GCN ethernet functionality would not work with the Wii's WiFi nor the USB ethernet adapter.
