they are two completely different games (one is kart racing, other is RPGish action adventure). i have portrait of ruin and mariokart ds and i enjoy both differently. it comes down to what genre you like better
Get Castlevania if you enjoy playing single player games with in depth stories and get Mario Kart if you enjoy straight to the point, pick-up-and-play kind of games. Personally, I think Mario Kart would get kind of boring if you don't plan on using the multiplayer/wi-fi modes very often, but I have tons of fun with it at school because a lot of my friends have DSs and they don't even have to own the game to participate in multiplayer games.
