I will be picking up one of the Castlevania title's this holiday but I am trying to decide from Castlevania:Dawn of Sarrow or Castlevania:Portrait of Ruin I like the setting for Castlevania:Portrait of Ruin the most because the idea of it taking place during the event's of WWII and the plot for the game and how you have to go into painting's to learn new abillity's so you can progress through dracula's castle sound's alot more fun then trying to catch palkia for Pokemon:Pearl (It is hard) but I like the idea of only playing as one character on Castlevania:Dawn of Sarrow but since it's a sequal to a game I never played I am not sure if I will enjoy it or not.

So can some one help me decide (I would buy both title's since I'm getting $200.00 but I want to pick up a USB adaptor for my Nintendo DS Lite this holiday as well and some Wi-Fi title's)

So thank you for taking the time out of your busy (or not so busy) day.

Note: Replacing your "p"s with smiley faces is just annoying. Not funny.

You don't really need to have played Aria of Sorrow to enjoy Dawn of Sorrow. As for PoR, I would say it's more of a fall game due to the colors of the game. But for DoS, I would say that it's more of a winter game. If you find my opinions obvious I apologize. I would say it takes longer to beat PoR but that's just me. I also think that people in general probably have more fun playing DoS. DoS is also probably a better for someone who is just starting to play castlevania or wants to get into the games. I would say get DoS, in the end though this decision is up to you.

One more thing. Correct me if I'm wrong but, I don't believe that you get powers from beating the bosses in the paintings.

Looks like an accident to me. That was, after all, his first post, and he might not have known that if you don't remove the spaces between the colon in Castlevania: and the 'p' in Portraitit will automatically become a smiley.

You know what, on second thought I agree, they both are great games. If you never played a Castlevania game before I think that you should still get DoS.

Portrait of Ruin most definitely. I've always been pissed off at the 'Sorrow' games in the Casltevania series. Portrait of Ruin, I think, follows the traditional Casltevania more so than Dawn.

What specific aspects do you mean by 'traditional'? Which other Castlevania games would you consider traditional?

and to the OP, my favorite is Super Castlevania IV, But DoS is awesome on DS.
