You could try getting Dawn of Sorrow. I haven't played it but it's the sequel to Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for the GBA and I loved that game!

I've played both, and I suggest getting Dawn of Sorrow. If you want a decent Wi-Fi experience with Castlevania, then get Portrait of Ruin. However, the story mode of Dawn of Sorrow is better IMO. Hope this helped.

Dawn of sorrow is like 50 times better. ok, i exagerate, but still, i didnt like portrait of ruin a much. i guess i just liked collecting souls to gain new abilities alot more than just swapping characters.

Get Dawn of Sorrow first and if you like it get Portrait of Ruin.

I like Dawn of sorrow for the story and i like portrait of ruin for the gameplay and graphics.

I've played both, finished DoS, still playing through PoR.  Between them, DoS is better for first-timers, and it is incredibly fun.  PoR would be an obligation title to pick up if you enjoyed DoS though.  Eventually, if you end up enjoying DoS, then PoR should be on your list next, as the graphics are upped and the gameplay slightly tweaked and improved upon DoS.

In terms of story content, DoS is a superior Castlevania title.  If you haven't played Aria Of Sorrow on GBA (which is the prequel to DoS), read some story guides and some wiki sites to get your memory jogged up to date (without spoiling yourself about DoS, of course).

POR = Portrait of Ruin

Aria of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin. trust me these two are the best, especially AOS that one alone os worth it, POR is better than DOS, better soundtrack, dual character system and just better, only by a little though. also Dawn of Sorrow is pretty similar to AOS so only get one of those, i say AOS ad POR.

Allright, here's the scoop dude! You have a DS. It is able to run GBA games as well as DS games. There are 3 GBA Castlevania games.

1. Circle of the Moon: The graphics are not the greatest and I kind of had a problem finding my way around that version of the castle.

2.Harmony of Dissonance: Graphics are a little better and I think a little more fun than CotM.

3.Aria of Sorrow: Someone posted here before to read up on the story so you know where you are at in DoS. Skip that! Buy this game and finish it before you play DoS. Why? Because this is where the gameplay for DoS came from. When you finish this game and start the next one you will know not only what the hell's going on in the story, but you'll kind of have a grip on the whole "Soul Stealing" factor of the game. Also, if you have save data from this game and start DoS with it in the GBA slot you start out with a special item.

There is also a double pack that has Harmony of Dissonance AND Aria of Sorrow on one cartridge, but you can't get the special item I mentioned with that version. Dude, Castlevania kicks ass! Buy them all!!!:D

As a major fan of the series, I would have to go with playing the games in order - whether they have similar characters or not.  DoS is readily avaiable now that Konami made it a "greatest hit".  Go with that one first, then if you like it, play PoR.

I really like both. Dawn of Sorrow is the better of the two, but Portrait of Ruin is much more linear, making it much easier to get into it.

Go with DOS first, it's only $20.

Then if you really like it get POR too.
