So, I've always been under the impression that it's best for rechargable batteries to use up all their power, and then charge them. But sometimes that leaves my 3DS with not so much power left.

Do you guys use it until it runs out, and then charge it? Or put it on the cradle all the time so it's always ready to go..?

You should feel free to charge it after every time you play. That's what the cradle is for. You aren't harming the battery. It has a certain amount of 'full' charges (500 I think?) but if you only use up half the battery and then charge it it only counts as 1/2 a charge of the ~500.

this was with very old batteries in old mobiles. its still hold true to an extent still. if you want the absolute best out of the battery and obsess over it then completly discharging it and then recharging it will give the best battery performance. but really...dont worry about it. its not a huge difference. recharge away. in the highly unlikely event that you do notice the life of your 3DS is getting shorter between charges and theres no good reason for it then maybe a full discharge and recharge may improve things (though thats probably more of a sign that you need a replacement).

Charge it whenever it's convenient and whenever you feel like it. Replacement batteries are so inexpensive there's no point in plotting out optimal battery charge cycles, especially when it ultimately doesn't affect the lifespan all that much.

The 3DS's battery isn't like those nicads or whatever they are that require full charges to extend their life. As others have said, you can simply drop it in the cradle and charge if you've played it for 30 minutes or 3 hours.

Even in the case of the old NiCad batteries, I don't pay much attention to charging them. My two cordless phones are still nicads (I think most are, for some reason) and they just sit on the charger whenever I'm not using them. They usually last a few years like that. I think it was a bunch of really anal people who originally started plotting out how to achieve the most power cycles from rechargable batteries.

do some research online, its interesting now because those old myths (or old facts I suppose) and their remedies can now actually harm the current generations of battery's current battery's are designed to not have to be fully discharged and then recharged and using them in that pattern can actually reduce their life
