Dude.... They look like any other Snes screenshot.-Sigil-
Your point? Like FF7, they better not touch one of the best games ever made.
A port, fine. A remake, no thanks. I still own it for SNES, but I'm definitely getting the handheld version.
Good, leave it alone. Masterpieces should not get ruined by 3d.

I agree with that statement. Leave it the way it is. Chrono trigger looks fine with just the 2d not 3d. I love it I want it I want some more of it.

My point? They look exactly like the Snes vesion so in that case, you can classify these screenshots as DS sceenshots as well...

Im not saying Im mad about the graphics staying the same, as a matter of fact Im ETREMELY happy about that.
The press release already confirmed there would be no graphic change so I really dont see the point in posting that scan unless it has images of both screens in use, that would be something new.
TBH I am not of the school of thought that CT is untouchable. There are many tiny things that could make the interface better.
Ontop of that there were visual limitations in the SNES version that the DS can probably get around (some layers of effects for instance would disappear during certain move animations because the sprites appeared on the same layer).

You and me both. and actually, this one looks a little nicer than I remember the SNES version being. Could it be a PS1 screenshot?

Same Here, CT is the best RPG out there, they mustn't ruin it or it's memory in any possible way

... Its the resolution of the screenshot. The image isnt expanded like it would be on a TV
This is kind of why I wish the DS was a little more powerful, a 2D remake would have been nice, with better 2D graphics, in the end, its true graphics don't really matter, I play games on all platforms, and I've tried the PSP Star Ocean remake, that went from SNES to PSP, and it looks so nice, having other classic SNES titles like that would be nice, but it doesn't really matter. Though it is better to have a new way to play, which the DS does, then better graphics, I hope Nintendo's next handheld can achieve both.110million
It has two 2D engines both superior to the Gameboy Advance.

Sort of hard to believe, though anything Nintendo puts out always looks nice, third parties rarely make games that could not have been done on the GBA. TWEWY for example looks really nice and 2D, but its not that common.
I'll buy it, i'll love it, i'll replay it. But, such a highly regarded game derserves more than a port with forced dual screen presentation and an extra dungeon. Come on Square...get it together.
...Messin' up the Mana series.
yea... >_>[QUOTE="-Sigil-"]Dude.... They look like any other Snes screenshot.BrunoBRS
whats the problem with a bit of graphic improvement? doesnt have to be 3D, buuut... keeping it EXACTLY the same?
Nowhere in that sentence did I say "Chrono Trigger needs some damn graphic improvement".
I actually love the fact thier keeping the 2D, I just didnt think anyone else would get excited over it because the fact is the screenshots look like any other Snes screenshots. I can see if the screenshots had both screens but thats not the case..
I think the purists need to calm down a little. After waiting all these years for ChronoTrigger, the least they could do is upgrade the character models. Keep it 2D, but make the characters a little more detailed. It's not like they can't afford to. I suppose they don't feel like sprucing it up. Why bother, they know fans are gonna buy it anyway.

I agree. I'd love to see a 2D remake with improved, more detailed character models.

Chrono Trigger looking the same is the result of SquareEnix doing a simple port, NOT because the DS is weak or anything like that. Look at the differences between the GBA Castlevania games and the DS Castlevania games if you don't believe me. Several of the graphical effects in those could not have been done on the GBA, and you've already said that you played TWEWY.Please Log In to post.
