Chrono Trigger Question Magus

i am near the end of my first chrono trigger playthrough, and in it, i chose to kill Magus rather than add him to my team, stupid as it sounds. i just felt it would be a more epic conclusion to frog's individual story, you know, by exacting revenge? well anywho, i was just wondering if, now that i have killed magus in my first playthrough, is it still possible to get him to join your party in a second, New Game + mode playthrough? just a bit curious about that. also, please explain the nature of new game + mode, as im a bit confused.

Yes, if you get to that point during New Game+, you'll be able to recruit him.

Basically, NG+ lets you carry over all the experience and (most) equipment into a new game, and also allows you to access the final boss before reaching the End of Time. Its main purpose is to allow you to see the multiple endings in the game, which result from beating the end boss at different points in your adventure. Specific to the DS version is a series of additional dungeons, the Dimensional Vortices, that open up after completing the game the first time. These extra dungeons are interesting mainly due to their tie-in with sequel Chrono Cross (plus a few butt-kicking weapons and armor).
