Even though the main story itself might not be very long, you'll want to replay it again anyway, partly due to the fact that you can do "New Game+" to be able to keep your inventory, levels, techs, etc. and go through the game with better equipment and spells. Also, it's the only way to really earn all the different endings the game has to unlock. I'm just glad that Square didn't cock up this version of Chrono Trigger like they did FF4 for DS.

Chrono Trigger is a super awesome game. It was good 13 years ago, and it still holds up very well today. There's not many games that can do that.

It's not long, but there are a ton of sidequests at the end, and it has more replay value than any other RPG I've played. Generally on your first playthrough, there's 2 endings you can get, but on all subsequent playthroughs, that number goes up to 12 based on when you decide to fight the final boss (a special gate will open up in Leene Square in 1000 so you can beat it as early as the beginning of the game). There's a new dungeon that increased that number to 13, though.

I just got the game today. I hope to enjoy it, as I have tried playing it a long time ago, but always got stuck at this one part. I think it's really hard for games to please me, and if they do, they don't please me as much as they do others.

How does that make it any less of a great game? I recommend it for people new to the genre mostly because it has one of the most fun turn-based battle systems in the genre (to me, anyway), a rather unique, compelling story, and excellent replay value, with New Game+...

If you want to interest someone in a particular genre, wouldn't you suggest the best game in that genre, in your opinion?

No joke, I thought the game was going to end with the defeat of magus at his keep, and I was wishing it would go on and I was ecstatic to find that there was still a boatload of gameplay. Plus the New Game+ and the extra dungeons with even better equipment. I will most definately play Chrono Trigger 30 times through and not get bored of it. AERO-DALTON IMPERIAL, FTW

I've already played it through twice to the Zeal Kingdom. I accidentally deleted my file at the Golem Sisters and had to start again. The story is captivating! Never played the original.

BTW, what was Chrono Cross like?

lol? Freaking hard? Sorry, i have to strongly disagree. This game seems to be even easier than the SNES version. FFIII was hard, FFIV was hard, chrono trigger = hard? Then you're not even trying. =P; I'm sorry if i offended you, but that's the truth. XD

Technically, can RPG's be hard?

You find something hard, go do some levelling up. Sure it's a pain, but it eases your quest.

As many have put it, it's a timeless adventure that will never grow tiresome. Some of the most well-balanced gameplay in RPG history. Wonderful story and a great cast of characters that you grow attached to over time, along with a soundtrack that sounds beautiful even by today standards. And that's really saying something, seeing as how many games include full blown orchestras and still can't compete!

Chrono Trigger holds something special for those who've played it or have yet to try it. It's a journey that shouldn't be missed!

Awesome game! I remember playing through it when it came out on the snes and have finished it recently on DS. I really didnt think it was too hard at all seeing ya just fight till u have levelled up bigtimeand stock up on healing packs. Still a great story too!

Chrono Cross is a love or hate game. Personally I think its one of the best games but many disagree. I also played it before Chrono Trigger and before I even knew CT existed. Unfortunately for me I was not able to beat Chrono Cross at that time because I had rented it, then I played CT and loved that game too but I never completed it either. Now I own both games and I must say I liked Chrono Cross better(partly due to nostalgia), but a heads up for u if u dont know, The two game are almost completely different and the only thing they share is the story.

Chrono Trigger is amazing. When they first announced that it was coming of the DS, I was so happy. And when it got released, I bought it, and until today, I still play it.

Amazing game. I already have it on SNES so I didnt buy it on DS, but I would reccomend it to anyone who doesnt have it or never played it.
