The game's been out for over a week, and while I understand that the gaming sites are a little focused on E3 right now, I'm a little disappointed that I haven't seen a review for Civilization: Revolution from any major site. I'm pretty excited about the game, but what I've heard from the smaller sites has been a little bit uneven, so I don't really want to put down $30 right away.

Has anyone else purchased the game yet? What do you think?

I've been a fan of the Civ games since I plotted for hours in Civilization 2 on a 486 computer, and I've heard this one has been simplified a little bit, so I was wondering if anyone could give me a good honest opinion whether or not I should pick the game up.

well I rented the one for the 360, and that version was very simplified so I'm guessing on the DS its even more simple.

Well, they're very different games. I'm looking for opinions on the DS version.

Being simplified doesn't really matter to me...if it makes the game a little quicker to play while retaining a lot of the strategy and depth, I'm in. I just want to make sure the game is technically sound and intuitive enough before I buy it

gamesradar reviewed it..

It looks like it could be pretty sweet on the DS. Though, I'm personally going to wait for a price drop regardless of the reviews!!

Yeah I got it but honestly I didn't really like it. I would rather play the one on the computer with the time that i'm spending on the DS. It just doesn't seem to flow that well and it seems really watered down from the other ones. Then again i'm not as big a fan as you are, I only ever played the third one. I would say rent it first.

That is where your wrong. There actually the same game run on the same engine. Just get the game, don't wait foe gamespot to review it because they don't seem to like handheld games unless its a Final Fantasy game or Mario Kart . Gamespot still hasn't reviewed Rondo of Swords.

I was actually just searching the internet for reviews of this game and I was wondering the same thing! I've never really played a game like this before, but it looks really fun to me. I like the idea of being able to go throughout history and try to take over the world :) I hope it's good, because I'd really like to get it at some point once I've got some money.

I was/is an avid fan of Civ 2 for the PC. Civ Rev for the DS is definately a watered down version of the PC game. With that being said it is still a fun, streamlined, and easy to play in short bursts version of Civilization. To those people who have never played the series before...this is as good a place to start as any. For those who crave the intense depth of the PC versions, you might find the DS version a little lacking. I still think its a solid enough game to warrant a purchase and if $30 sounds too high for you...just wait a month or two for a price drop or check the used bins. Happy gaming!

I found a few reviews for the game on metacritic.Check em out. Getting pretty good scores. I may have to rent it and see if its any good. (I like the sim-building game genre, but was disappointed with Sim City ds.

I got it on the DS. I wasn't expecting it to be that good, but it's really fun. I highly recommend it. I always tell myself I'll play for a while and then I play for hours.
