what does the button on the top do? i know it moves a thing on the back but what is it for?

my guess is that is it some sort of release button for like if you put a strap behind it... but other than that i have no idea... i'm kinda curious about it too...

nintendo has a history of putting expansion ports on their system and never using them. My guess is we my never know.

You can attach a light saber or the Proton Packs that the Ghostbusters used to use to stabilize the ghost until they threw the trap underneath them!

SNES had a disk player dont remember the name... and the N64 the DD or something like that

I don't know why the button is such a "mystery", it's obvously for releasing whatever attachments they come out with for the Classical Controler. One that I've heard of is one where you can connect the Wii-mote directly to the back of the Classic Contoller. You would of course press the button to release the attachment.
