I've been with Nintendo since the beginning and a few years ago starting hearing about Club Nintendo Japan and the stuff they offered their members. I saw how nice the stuff were and thought that America would have a Club Nintendo for sure. To my dismay they didn't. I then saw what Platinum members got, a SNES Famicom Classic Controller. I wanted it so bad but remembered that it wasn't available to the US so I became annoyed. Club Nintendo is now here after so many years, I'm on board with 150 coins and can't wait to go Platinum. I just need 9 more Nintendo-developed Wii games. This goes to show you that although it was something NOA overlooked or couldn't do for the longest time (I still wonder why it took so long) Nintendo is starting to pay more attention to the fans. The average casual gamer won't even care about this so this is a gift to the hardcore.

I can't wait to see what they do next and what other services or software will come. Look at Sin and Punishment, because of the VC and them deciding to bring Sin and Punishment on so everyone can buy they are just now making Sin and Punishment 2, which looks astounding. If Nintendo keeps this up they will be able to properly balance the casual and hardcore again.

The service is just starting up, give them some time. They do have a game currently that isn't available in stores and it's for DS. I has a bunch of classic games on it. Take a look at some of the stuff they're currently offering in Japan.

I've always wondered what will be the difference between the Gold and Platinum members' prizes. It would be neat to get both...well, at least if you made it to platinum.

Club Nintendo doesn't have anything to do with Nintendo loving the "hardcore". Nintendo is just giving consumers a reason to buy their games. And they probably will see slightly larger sales numbers on Nintendo-developed products in the years to come. Nintendo that is.

Uh, yeah. I know that too. The more Nintendo games I buy, the more money they make. As long as they do something useful with the money (buy or open more studios, make teams larger, invest in technologies that make games more graphically outstanding or make developers more productive, do more marketing research on the games we really want, etc.) then it's fine.

EDIT: I only need another 7 or 8 games by 2010. I can settle for a Gold prize in 2009.

Do the games have to be developed by Nintendo?

Also do Gamecube games add up to anything?

And one last thing how many coins does one game get you?

Hehehehe 50 more points until I can get the Animal Crossing DS Game holder thingy xP. I'm glad Nintendo finally brought it over to the U.S. :).

Oh yeah I was wondering like...you still have gold/platinum status, even after you spend the coins right? I think that'd be kind of ridiculous if you didn't :?.

Joke thread?

They cancel out most of the purchases made by dedicated fans of the software

This was a slap in the face for the "hardcore" gamer, funny thread if that's what you're going for though

All wrong

Nintendo didn't make the first gaming console

Nintendo has targeted the casual from the NES. Their plan wasn't to get everyone who threw away their Ataris and Colecovisions. Their idea was to get everyone who hadn't played a game before. The kids and the parents who wanted light entertaining gameplay.

Heck they even packaged it with a toy robot to show that it was the most casual of the casual

Nintendo is a casual company. They were founded as a casual company and that's all they've ever been.

The only reason they had to package ROB with it was because no one would buy videogames. After the crappiness of Pong and such, no one wanted to waste their money. Without the casualness, the industry would be dead.

They give away packs of playing cards? Screw them, what a joke. What a chinsey company they've become...

I remember being 12 and trading in all my popsicle pete popsicle sticksI'd collected all summer and mailed them in for Super Mario Bros. 3.

Now they give away playing cards with the Nintendo logo on it...

Thanks Club Nintendo, but no thanks.

However, my comment of "thanks Club Nintendo, but no thanks" was a bit of a give away, but good try anyways. :P

I should check it out though, sinse I do have quite a lot of Wii games.

This is just another way for them to make money.

Not really. Sony and Microsoft both sell games. They don't give anything extra with their games. People should appreciate the fact that nintendo are actually giving something extra with their games whether if it's a big or small thing.

Dragon Warrior 1 was far from casual.

Ninja Gaidan 1, 2 and 3 were far from casual.

Metroid was far from casual.

Nintendo has targeted the casual from the NES? Give me a break.

I saw very few grammas and grampas playing the 8-bit nes, but that's what they're targeting now.

Nintendo has changed. Either deal with it, or keep your head buried in the sand.

I'm sorry you don't know the history of the company

You making it up wont make your story true though

You're absolutely right as always Jasonguy.

Actually, he's usually wrong, but in this case, he's not.

sorry. i apologize for EDIT

frostybro24

first off dont attack posters... if anything comment on the posts, not the one who posted it... I already had to report you for calling jaysonguy names earlier in this thread and now I have to do it again. Second dont apologize for other people's mistaken posts when you too have an error in your post... if you are going to apologize, then apologize for not reading posts but quoting them anyway.

maybe I should report you for being snotty, mr. jasonguy disciple

In our country he and I use the term "friends"
