Well the Wii doesn't support HD resolutions, only SD with progressive scan. The component cables will allow you to run a progressive, rather than interlaced, signal. Therefore it will look marginally better, heck you might even notice a small difference. But it won't make the difference that it would make on a PS3 or 360.

You bet it does,
component cables and an HDTV will let you set the Wii to it's max relolution of 420p.

The picture should look much sharper.  But with sharpness, you will notice jaggies and other undesireable effects.

The cables make the picture more sharp, and the colours are better/ more crisp, the only thing is that you can see more jaggies, but that is not a problem, as long as you arent that person running around posting how you hate jaggies.....

well ... the normal (basic) tv is 480i .... the wii's hd setting is 480p (you need component cables) the improvement is really not much, but you do see a little something in zelda for exemple zelda TP is probably the best looking game so far, and you see a little grain ... you have a sweet improvement while playing it with HD "component cables???make better gameplay for the wii" GAMEPLAY IS NOT CHANGING AT ALL WITH GRAPHICS ... if you play xbox or xbox 360 / ps or ps2 or ps3 .... have you seen any modification in gameplay .. nothing changed at all on that point, only the graphics are improving

Getting component cables is what made me stop playing Zelda.

Never even finished it. Couldn't stand to look at it. I recommend skipping them.

Well the SD Progressive Scan grants you an overpowering detecion in terms of graphics and the naked eye, yet the HD Progressive Scan contains SDRAM, and this, fused with component cables, ultimately lead to an overall improvment in terms of detail and some of what you see with the naked eye....of course there's also the HD Progressive Sanserif fonts which, although expensive, provide some of the best visual features I have yet to see on the Wii

PS: You can also hook up an external GB Hard drive to your modem on top of the ethernet which will cost you almost nothing, maybe $5 if you can't get any firewire, but overall, you will get the best visual to money ratio with this ingenious combination.

yes it does in a way. I bought a 720p hdtv and i was horrified cause zelda looked blurry since it cant support nowhere near 720p, so when i buy the component cable and put the 480p setting in the menu EVERYTHING cleared up but there is only one downside, sometimes the models in the games look more... sharp or grainy as people have said and it looks like it needs anti-aliasing :( but its only very little and if you stand back you really wont notice it. its better than going blind on a hdtv from how bad the non component cables are, the reviews for this are really mixed on all websites so i would recommend you try it out on your hdtv and keep your receipt and old cables just in case

It'll get rid of those horrible jaggies, and you'll probably notice a bit of a difference, but it won't be absolutely huge other than the jaggies :p

Still, I ordered them :p

You mean it WON'T get rid of those horrible jaggies. It willonly make them stand out more. But atleast it brightens the game and brings more colors to the fore.

Get them

It'll make the image sharper plus it'll get rid of some lag some HD sets have with the Wii.
