Greetings all. Just wanted to congratulate those of us that have known that the Wii would be #1. I have a 360 too and love it but knew that the Wii would be the most popular for the masses. After growing up playing Nintendo games I'm happy to see Nintendo having such great success.

Do you guys think that the Wii will lose its popularity and any of the other consoles will grow in poularity over the Wii?

You're not really allowed to discuss the comparisons of consoles, unless it's on system wars. But yeah, Nintendo's doing great, and will continue to do so for decades to come. Decades. Literally. Ok, maybe not.

That phrase was also shared by the makers of Okami before they became homeless.

Sales are the only thing that matters.

I have to agree, sales is what dictates the actions and directionof the industry. Take the Gamestop website, last gen the GC was listed last on thier tabs, nowthe Wii is listed first. Something that most probaly wont notice, but it just shows the effect that sales have.

Also, keep in mind that Gamestop's a retailer. It's supposed to care about sales. As for the average gamer, sales make less of an impact, but it's still should be somewhat important. A lot of times, sales tend to affect which games you'll see and what systems they will be on. On the flip side to this, if you only pay attention to sales, you're bound to miss out on superbgamesbecause theyweren't as successful. The important thing here is to only notice how a game/game system is selling, but not let the sales of a particular product affect what decisions you make.

Since the Wii is selling on everywhere on Earth, it's still popular. The 360 is condamned to be not popular. It's dead in Japan and Europe seems to be mix between Wii and PS3.

Understand that the guys at Nintendo are incredible marketing geniuses...or just plain jerks!

They've effectively cornered the market on the most popular toy being sold two years in a row; I can't ever remember that happening before. They've played the oldest game in the book with supply and demand. The reason why everyone is going out and buying one, or trying to, is because of the limited availability. Everyone wants what they can't have...

I'm not a console gamer for the most part, sure I've got a PS2 for FFVII and that's about it. I'm a PC gamer but see no loyalty to the PC at all...I will say however, that the Wii is a different beast, and its a good thing; we as gamers didn't need another powerhouse graphics beast to play the same old games over and over again. The folks at Nintendo were able to come up with a more interactive solution. The intersting part of this is that we're getting closer and closer to VR with interactivity.

I for one, hope Nintendo blows PS3 and XBox360 out of the water, because I want to see the next gen. after this. Someone needs to develop an MMO in VR and make it practical...and I believe Nintendo has the resources and knowledge to do this. It could possibly happen on the PC, but unfortunately there's such a diverse range of PC capabilities that it will be years before that happens.

Beyond the forementioned, I still think gaming is only in it's second generation. No one has taken a huge leap away from the joystick/keyboard/mouse and sitting in front of a TV...I think VR will be the next big advance with a new graphics technology which can process and replicate the physical properties of virtual materials. Right now we've got physics cards in PC's which do a good job at faking it, but they don't really supply the PC with true physics laws, only replicated ones designed by a programer.

The next leap for PC will be the Atomic computer...instead of being based upon 1's and 0's (on and off), they'll be based upon protons/neutrons etc. and have different shades of "on & off", the processing power will jump 1000 fold.

1- thanks

2- i dont think wii will lose its popularity, since its easy for non gamers to play not-hardcore games.

I agree with you Sepewrath, I always keep my eye on the smallest details I've notice alot of these things happening with the Wii and even DS very recently obviously because of their great success.
