Connecting wii to internet???

I just got a router and Im not familiar with routers tbh but Ive managed to set it up... so I tried connecting my wii to the net but its saying I have a secure network (news to me) and that I need a pass key...? how can I find this out also what type of connection should I be using e.g wep.. I have no idea what Im doing please help

The best thing to do is to google one of the many helpful guides that alrady exist on this topic. Google "Wii WiFi Guide".

Second, read you instruction book for your router and it will tell you how to access the firmware on your router to change the passwords.

In my case, I had to give my Wii a static IP address otherwise my network would crash after a few hours of use. I'm sure their are cases where everything worked right out of the box with no additional configuration.

In a very brief explanation, this is what i'd do:

Considering a typical router I'd look for a label on it (usually under the device) where there is a defaultWEP key -letters and numbers like XYZ1234X...

Then in your Wii connection settings look for wireless networks. Select yours.

It will ask you for your WEP key. Input it.

Wait for the connection test and you should be done.
