This game is more fun than most people give it credit for. There are some graphical glitches in the game, but overall it's a fun experience. Most of the hate is from people who are into hardcore shooters like Halo and Half-Life. That's not what this game is trying to be.
Redsteel gave me a decent 20 hours of fun. Some levels are really fun and creative, even beautiful graphically. Other levels are very bland and plain looking. Overall, you will enjoy this title as long as you aren't expecting the next Halo or Metroid Prime.
Good game. Not exceptionally great, content-wise, but, I thought, awesome controls for guns, alright sword controls.
Aiming with the Wiimote is light years ahead of dual analog. Many of the later missions actually look good, sword fights are very puzzle based (pattern of attacks that can only be effectively dodged OR parried, counter with a sword kata. Some of them are quite intense and vicious the first time around until you figure out their pattern), and going for cover is about as good as the AI gets with some minor flanking tactics and grenade throwing.
Overall, if you enjoy on-rail shooters like Time Crisis, this is how the game feels, except off-rails. The enemies are essentially targets and you can go anywhere you want to. I have it and loved it, including the story, which I think doesn't get enough credit for being much more philosophical while being less heavy on events.
Rent it first....it's not very good! Played for like 10 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore!qball2k5
Oh yeah. That brings me to another point. At first I hated it because the controls were so hard to get used to. But then I got used to them and didn't think that they were that bad. In fact, I liked the shooting aspect of it. So if you rent it, you should give it more than 10 minutes. ;)
