Is it possible?

They can fix online in general through firmware updates. but Friend codes will still be there.
BTW playing a Friend using Friend Codes isn't that bad. it's Matchmaking that sucks.

The reason Smash Bros doesn't always work well online is because it's a direct connection between all the players. It's entirely dependent on the speed of everyone's internet connection. If they are all fast then Smash Bros is smooth and if one person has a slow/bad connection it ruins the match. Also the game is so fast paced and it has to keep track of almost every move perfectly, unlike Mario Kart, so it's very vulnerable to lag. Nintendo can't just fix their servers because they aren't used. There are no patches for Nintendo games so they can't update it and the only thing they could do to make it work better is match people by similar ping which would reduce the problem. The only way they could fix that though is too send out new discs to everyone and that probably won't happen. Unless you get friend codes of people who live near you and set up a good friend match then your only bet is luck that everyone you play has a good connection.

My thoughts exactly, though I've really never experience a terrible match unless someone else was using my bandwidth on my network. If my little brother is playing Battlefield bad company online on his PS3 and I'm trying to play brawl, then the match begins to tank badly. If not, I usually have smooth matches....The reason Smash Bros doesn't always work well online is because it's a direct connection between all the players. Is there no chance Nintendo could make a downloadable patch to update it?The reason Smash Bros doesn't always work well online is because it's a direct connection between all the players. They could patch it but the only way they could do it is a bit convoluted.
The'd have to release it as a new channel. You would have to boot the game from the channel, it would feature all the updated material plus any data it needs it could read from the disk.
im fine the way it is but yea id like:
1vs1 option, no items option, and leaderboards.

Go play Tatsunoko vs Capcom cause that's not Smash Bros. at All.
I suppose that could be possible. The Wii is capable of patches now but games have to be programmed to accept future patches which Smash Bros probably isn't. That's why it's not possible to patch it. I guess a channel that uses the assets off the disc would in theory work, but the chances of Nintendo actually doing this is pretty small. They could patch it but the only way they could do it is a bit convoluted.

yes but your point is flawed in many areas. First of all, through Nintendo Wi fi, another 4 man fighting game for DS( Bleach), has much less lag issues. Not to mention all the other online fighters have No matchmaking issues or such heavy lag issues(except! TK3). 2ndly the biggest problem of Brawl is the matchmaking. Half of these forum goers simply can never (meaning literally, never)find an oponent online. 3rd, some wii games offer small netcode patches that allow post launch fixes. Treyarch fixed some online problems this way for Reflex. However the game itself has to be prepared to accept these post launch fixes. Brawl is not such a game and can not be fixed unless nintendo rereleased. The real issue with brawl is that the netcode programmed for it was poor and not adapted for american networks. While there are a few workarounds messing with your ip and router, thats unnaceptable while the rest of games dont ask you to.The reason Smash Bros doesn't always work well online is because it's a direct connection between all the players. exactly, I hate people that play "Tourney rules". It ruins the game. If there's going to be a Tournament I'd say put everything On and choose the most difficult of stages, True players of the Game would survive the obsticles the game would give out.
