Well I would say the DS Lite is in fact as strong as an SP, maybe stronger, maybe not. I wouldn't try though, personally I treat mine like a baby. It'll withstand a few accidents, and then some, but don't go around throwing it against the wall for kicks.

sure it can. its tough stuff. its just that it looks so glossy and nice that you'd think its as weak as a toothpick.

Like I said, it will still work after you do some damage to it, but don't expect it to look tip top. If you sit on it while it's on a bed, it'll live no problem. And since it's on a bed, no scratches either. Remember, Nintendo made a product for children to play, and they've been doing it for years and years. Don't you think a kid is bound to drop it on the cement or on a tile floor at least once or twice?

Buy the nerf case for your ds lite. It makes it more durable than the sp by far. Not to mention it looks cool.

Most definitely. I try not damage my consoles, but the fact is accidents happen, and I have dropped my ds quite a few times and it works prefectly. While I wouldn't sit on it on a hard surface, the ds should easily br able to withstand someone sitting on it on a soft bed

Nintendo products are like the Duracell batteries....they keep going and going. The good thing about the big N is that they consoles/handhelds are sturdy and built for people of all ages.

I work with kids for a living and I have seen a basketball slam down on the a DS. The hinge broke but the screen was fine and it kept working perfectly. One child actually left their DS outside and then it started to rain. He didn't remember that it was outside until 15 minutes later. He ran out and got it opened it up and it still worked. I tell you....the DS can take a licking and keep on ticking.

I can say it's safe to sit on and can survive a few drops. I can also say that it's ten times more sturdier than the PSP.

id say it's stronger but if you dont want to get scratches on the system just buy a case for it and keep it in there when you aren't playing it

I have to say the SP is sturdier. Then again, I've dropped my Lite several times. Hell I fell down the stairs one day and my Lite fell out of my hand, down the stairs and Slam!! Right into the wall and it's still working. so yeah, it's damn sturdy. Dont do that with a PSP.It'll probably explode.

Well, my DS lite has been through hell... It was actually slammed into a car door, it still works.. and I've dropped it on cement many times.. Ive also spilted Sprite all through the touch screen and it still works.. One thing I would suggest getting is screen covers..

My DS lite fell off the shelf once, about 4 foot fall and it's ok. I think everything except for someone sitting on it would be ok. The DS is much wider than an SP, so where as an SP might just nuzzle between someone's butt cheeks, the DS may stand more of a chance of being more like a bench seat, which could be bad.

I treat all my systems with the utmost care and respect. It does seem fragile but many systems especially these days give me that feeling (360 ps2 slim etc) psp isnt exactly not fragile I've seen many with some serious scratches etc my only problem is my black ds is like my black psp-tons of fingerprints arghh!!!

strange. gamespot once said taht the ds lite could break easily. they kept complaining that the ds lite was too weak. but thats only the hinges right, anyway ds lites r sturdy but an sp is more sturdy. my friends sp was attack by his dog. his claws and teeth scratched it. there is also a dent. yet it works well. a ds lite might withsand it but the ds lite sdoesn't really look like a ds lite with outer damage. the ds though was like a tank scratches jus tmade it look like it came back from war with minimum damage

The SP is more durable in every concievable way. One could argue, but the DS Lite's clear plastic casing is flimsy around the GBA cart, and prone to scratches. Given its size, and the fragile hinges that are known to crack, the DS Lite is not as compact and sturdy. That's not to say it's not solid as a rock, since Nintendo makes the most durable systems out of any manufacturer, but the SP is perhaps the most compact portable ever made. I keep my SP even though I own a DS. It's better suited for games like WarioWare: Twisted than the DS, plus my NES collectors edition is too cool to trade in.
