This is one of those games that seemingly came out of absolutely nowhere... I had never even heard of it until it started getting rave reviews.

It's big in Europe. It's called Anno there. It was only recently brought over here, and they decided to change the name because it is well known that North Americans are suspicious of non-existent words like "Anno".

Ahhh, that would explain things.

Those darn Europeans, holding out on us with their great games and all. :x

The strangest thing about the game though is that it's made by Ubisoft...

...

...and it's good. :|

Don't worry. I'm sure they're ashamed of themselves for this. :P

Indeed. It's hard for Ubisoft to mess things up when they're not actually developing the games they release lol.

The companies that made it are internal studios of Ubisoft.

The developer is Related Designs, and Ubisoft only owns a 30% stake in the company.

...At any rate, saying that Ubisoft made it makes it sound as if the same people who made such thrilling titles as "Imagine: Babies" also made this game, which is not exactly correct.

It's made by Sunflowers Interactive (Keen Entertainment and BlueByte), which is completely owned by Ubisoft, acquired a couple years ago. And I don't understand your objection to making it sound like it's the same people who made Babiez (with a Z, Gabu!). I mean, so? Prince of Persia was also made by Ubisoft, which also made Babiez. So what?

In looking it up... yeah, it looks like that's the case for the Wii version, at least.

Well, considering your post, I think it's rather clear what you were saying. :P

Also, Prince of Persia was made by Ubisoft Montreal, also not the same people who made Babyz. Get your Ubisoft right! ;)

It's still a branch of Ubisoft, and that's my point. What's incorrect about saying it's Ubisoft when it is, ultimately, Ubisoft who made it? Why are you trying to cover up this awful slip in their track record, heretofore unblemished by a single good game? Hm? That's what I want to know.

PS. did they really not pluralise it when they added the Z on the end? Babyz? Seriously? Ugh.

Don't worry, my precious Ubisoft! Don't let the mean woman hurt you. You still suck, I swear! :(

They could even use that as a good excuse to unveil a new Wii peripheral, too.

I got the pc version of this a few days ago, a great game which is vastly more complex than the Wii version. Wii still sounds quite good though.

LOL. I hope you never have kids, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. I have mixed feelings on this game. I don't think it's great, but I don't think it's bad either. I can kill hours playing it, but at the same time, I don't find it as intensly fun as games like The Conduit or WaW (early chapters and online). Story mode bugs me to death with both the shallow story itself (seems it was written for childeren -- ooh, we have to respect the prince and do our duty for the kingdom, blah) and the voice acting drives crazy (that woman who takes 10 times as much prozack as she should is really annoying, as is the guy who keeps complaining about getting seasick). A better help system would have been nice as well so you don't have to remember every detail and so you don't have to play through story mode. I guess I would have prefered a game where I could have taken over the world instead of managing it.
