Days of Ruin for Beginner

I have hardly played the Advanced Wars series. I have just played a little of the Black Hole RIsing on the GBA.

Now my question is that Days of Ruin got a low rating (8.0). I trust Gamespot a lot. Do you think Days of Ruin is one game I shouldnt consider highly? Woud I be better off purchasing some other games instead and buy this only if other good games arent there.

Is Days of Ruin very hard?

Days of Ruin is better than GS makes it out to be imo, and it wasn't all that hard, for the most part (it really depends on skill though; if you're good at 2, you should be as good with any of the other entries, after a few minutes of learning new unit abilities). I'd recommend it, especially if you want to pit yourself against other players on WiFi.
