All previews and videos of it point to it being a terrible game,an unnecessary port, and an insult to one of the better zombie games ever released.VGobbsesser
So very true.
The latest Mall Massacre vid shws it's coming along nicely, some issues like survivors have been fixed in that build, the moves are all there, the inventory is better, this team knows what their doing.
Visually it looks like crap even for the wii but it's a small price to pay for improvements where it really counts.
They should have made it a side story, or as someone said taken the premise and renamed it.
If there's no photography why are you still playing the same lead character who's whole reason for being there is to get a scoop.
I actually think it looks pretty good though, but needs about 50-100 zombies about the place depending on where you are to work mainly but if you drive through the tunnels then it'll fall flat because that's where the huge carnage comes into play.
I don't think it will be good to tell you the truth. No it is not going to be the key to get Resident Evil 5.how do you think dead rising:chop till you drop will be on wii??? and do you think think it will be the key to getting resident evil 5 on wii???

Improvements where it really counts?:| The original version had hundreds (hundreds.Note the plural) of zombies on-screen at any given time; at most, the screenshots and videos of the Wii version show less than a dozen at one time. They could make as many little improvements as they want, but the reality of the situation is that none of those little improvements matter when the actual core of the game is downgraded to a great, undeniable degree.
My, my, people are so sadly pessimistic here....Pices
Tell me about it. I've never played the game on any other console so I don't care about the number of zombies. I'm getting it cause it looks fun to me. I don't care how it compares to the original.

usually i have your mindset on many games. besides the the amount of zombies on screen this game looks very poorly done and the gameplay just looks blah. i'll wait for the gamers reviewsI'm a huge fan of the 360 version (I still pop it in on a weekly basis) and I think this version will be a blast to play as well!
I've been waiting for another game that uses the RE4 Wii Edition control scheme. Kinda "bites" that it has to be a port rather than something new, but until devs start making proper Wii games, i'll definitely take this. I'm also interested to see how they implement the various melee weapons into the gunplay-heavy RE4 engine.
I'm not really worried about the amount of zombies. Capcom said more than a few times they are pushing to get at least 100 on-screen at a given moment. I have total faith that they can pull that off. As long as the game has enough undead shambling about to make the game feel claustrophobic and overwhelming, i'll be happy.
While I don't mind the grueling save system in the original as much as some people out there (the game was entertaining enough that i didn't mind having to level up and restart, ad nauseum), it will be kind of nice to play the game start to finish straight through and not having to restart all the time. How people view this aspect of the Wii version as "crap" I don't understand. Apparently people don't play more straight-forward action games anymore?
Nothing really needs to be said about graphics at this point in the current generation of consoles. Everyone knows where each system stands graphics-wise and where each individual person stands. All I will say is that, imo, i don't really think the Wii version looks all that bad. A bit jaggy and blurry yes, but not a deal breaker for me. Plus its hard to tell from screenshots how good a game will actually look in motion. I'm picking this up because its going to be a new way to play one of my favorite games (and because i'm a fan of all things zombie).
The one thing that does kinda bug me is not having the ability to use Franks camera and take pictures. Capcom stated that the mechanic doesn't work well with the RE4 engine. I find it odd that they couldn't implement it in some way. For example, how hard would it be to map the camera to say, the "1" button and have the game enter the first-person view for the camera? The over-the-shoulder view the engine provides isn't that far removed from a first-person perspective that they couldn't make it work. Hopefully since they removed that mechanic from the game, they have a viable alternative for Franks occupation and reason for being in the wrong place at the wrong time so the story doesn't feel trite or convoluted.
In short, even though some things are being changed, i'm still excited for the Wii version. As a "vet" of the original game, i think Chop Til You Drop will be a decent, different, and new way to experience the (campy) terror at Willamette Park View Mall.
That's just my opinion though.
Wow! Did I just write all that? Sorry to anyone who actually read it. Slow day at work. ;)

I don't know how much trust i'd put in that little Kotaku Preview. It was posted on October 10th and the writer states that there was only "six zombies" on-screen in a wide open area. Now if you go to the pictures section at Gamespot or IGN, you can see pictures posted from October 2nd through now, where there are CLEARLY more than six zombies on-screen. Example:
Go to the IGN screenshots page and you'll see a bunch more.
Another thing that I find questionable about the Kotaku Preview (among others) is that the demo they've all played takes place in the first part of the mall where the game actually starts. After the Chopper intro and the zombies break in and slaughter the first group of people you meet. Even in the original, 360 version of the game, there wasn't "thousands" of zombies in this area of the game. Not at the start of the game at least.
I think alot of what these previews are saying may be an exaggeration to some extent. I know that the Wii version won't have nearly as many zombies on-screen at once as the 360 does, but saying only "six" is ridiculous. Its especially perplexing considering there are a number of screen shots out there that blatantly prove their exaggerations wrong.
The only part I've seen that is significantly different from the 360 version as far as the number of enemies is in the underground parking area. In one of the videos you can see that the zombies aren't quite as numerous, but there is still enough of them creeping about to give you that feeling of desperation. That its not a place you want to be stuck in when your car gets totalled.
I for one think this game is going to be great fun to play. I'll reserve final judgement until I hold it in my hands, but Capcom usually pulls through with decent to fantastic results. We just have to wait and see.
Kotaku are full of crap, they only pull stuff like that for hits. Here's what Capcom had to say about it:
"I'm not sure where 'this is the final build' stuff is coming from, because that is simply not true. The TGS "build" was mostly just a tech demo and is not the actual or final game, guys...I believe the situation is this: 1) the final game is almost done. 2) the final game is NOT the tech demo shown at Leipzig or TGS. The tech demo is a tech demo, and is not the final game. No press or media have yet seen the version of the game that Nikai was talking about when he said it was basically done. Someone at Capcom said there would be a new version of the game at TGS because that was the plan, but for reasons I dunno the details on, it didn't happen. As for why we would show the same thing over again, it mostly boils down to different producers having different attitudes, and Nikai definitely has his own way of doing things. This is not a hair-splitting technicality, as I know a number of things have changed. I haven't played the final build, so I dunno if it's going to be 3000% different, but I have seen screenshots, and yes, there are more zombies on the screen and a few other notable changes. I can't promise the moon without having actually played it, but I'm not trying to double-talk you here. The TGS build is not the final game, and there do appear to be some positive changes going forward." - Seth Killian, Capcom Community Sr. Manager
What frustrates me is that people judge a game without even playing it? I don't want to expect gasps or "BS" from 360 fanboys and other pessimistic people if it gets a decent score.Pices
Common sense? If terrible looking screenshots, unimpressive videos, and previews and press releases telling about some of the removed or dumbed down features don't tell you something about the quality of the game,I'm not sure what else there is to say.Out of all the games they could have ported,Capcom made just about the worst possible choice to port to the Wii; a game that was dependent on the higher power of the 360.

We have till February for it's release, every single effort by the developers can make a huge difference.Lower res graphics are a given but I hardly see the criticism of the vids and demo as viable since those commenting completely ignore what Capcom says about the game. The TGS demo was a tech demo, it's just RE4 wiith a Dead Rising skin possibly what the team threw together to sell the idea to big wigs at Capcom.
The Mall Massacre vid shows how far along the game has come from that. the only gameplay feature confirmed as cut is the camera mode, everything else said by the naysayers such as the number of zombies and characters is pure conjecture, the latest pics actually show three survivors you cant get without the camera which suggest's it has been put in or they have been tweaked. The game seems to be shaping up nicely as far as I can tell with whats been shown.

I just hope the sequel (which is being developed by another studio that only made one game - a baseball game) turns out alright, so that the series isn't farther disgraced.
