I didnt expect much from DS Extraction but the latest gamespot interview with video(just check it out in gs wii news) is showing up quite a looker. They are adding gameplay elements that, in my opinion, deepen out the core on rails experience, like the puzzles and so fort. The also aim to make it as long as the original and keep the same level of visual detail.

It's living up to my expectations actually. Visceral is a very good developer in my opinion, and I did not expect them to lower their standards for the Wii. If the game continues to look this good, I will buy this on day 1.

I like the various ways you can dismember the uglies. The story seems to flow very well with all the action too. This looks nearly as awesome as Darkside Chronicles. I will probably pick up both.

It definitely has my attention. DS Extraction and Darkside Chronicles are competing for a place in my wallet.

From the first interview I saw on this game the guys looked genuine about trying to make this a good original game with the quality of the first one.

Yeah, they're late to the show here!

And yes, though I didn't think it would be terrible (either a mediocre coop-out or a legitimately good game) I'd say it's looking better than I thought it'd be.

Forgive me, I was watching Cavs-Magic.

Effort would have been better spent making a real game, lazy developers, better off making a crappy port than a crappy genre, theres a reason on-rails died with arcades, etc.

Not even tempted to get it, on rails are so lame EA needs to learn a lesson for not listening to thousands of out pours to not make it on rails but they don't care they like to cut corners for the wii so I hope this game bombs so we can see an end to all these lame on rail shooters because if this sells decently you can expect a lot more of this crap.

On rails games aren't your thing. FPS isn't my thing. I don't look forward to this game any more or less than a call of duty game, but if it does sell well the dev will have more money to sink into future projects. That isn't such a bad thing.

they didnt die with arcades, arcades died along with all their games. And then no console was able to PROPERLY emulate the on rails gameplay until the wii came, without any need to buy extra peripherals for a single game.Thats why on rails flourish on this console and are as enjoyable as they were.

Racing games were good on the arcades and often better if not always than the home experience back in the day.But at least that experience was playable and portable to consoles, and so it was done.On rails were horrible with analogs so they didnt bother.Thats what happened.

No, the reason they "flourish" (in an extremely warped version of the word) on the Wii is because they are crap alternatives to making a REAL game. Google "Shovelware" for a more indepth definition.

But let me guess, you buy into the whole "We doon-rails to provide a more cinematic experience, we swearz itz!"

So basically your calling Dead Space Extraction shovelware ... and any rail-shooter in existance shovelware.

... riiiiighhhhhht.

first off let me say shovelware titles are games that are made very quickly to make a quick buck - often these games have very generic titles or box arts and are made by unknown development teams - games like M&M racing or Ninja Bread man.

Secondly, Dead Space Extraction is hardly a lazy choice. The reason to go with an on-rails experience is so the developer could provide good looking visuals that come very close to Dead Space on the other platforms. Making an on-rails title allows them to use pre-rendered backgrounds. Its the reason why Umbrella Chronicles looks so good, its the reason why Darkside Chronicles looks good and its the reason why Dead Space Extraction looks good.

There is a different between not liking a genre and thinking the developer is lazy. You just hate the genre and are getting confused. S'okay, it happens bud.

Shovelware is cheap to produce and takes weeks to produce. This games do have a hefty budget. Dont compare DE extraction with Bratz or Rednecks hunting games just because you dont like the genre.Even mere high endCGI animation and physics have a hefty tag.To make your point even more clear, a cheap adventure or even RE like game can be shovelware.Genre has NOTHING to do in the definition of shovelware.

thats a thing I don't wanna support this cause I don't want anymore on rails crap I believe it's important to support the hardcore games but trust me you can buy the conduit, madworld, red steel 2, COD's that way they'll stop with the lame on rails.

To be fair, I'll enjoy the game as well, I'll just do it to the extent that a game like this warrants: a rental.

Get as much enjoyment as a limited experience like on-rails can provide, without buyers remorse afterwards when it sits on the shelf for months:D

according to gameinformer, who also had their demo handled to them: "While playing the demo it was hard not to notice that the game looked good, even without the qualifier "for a Wii game." Full facial motion capturing and a great attention to detail put Dead Space Extraction leagues ahead of most of the Wii titles we've seen. " slap in the face to a lot of naysayers.

Graphics seem to be coming alone nicely but as for the game itself not interested in the slightest. not that it won't be a good on rails shooter but i just don't care for those types of games

Yeah, the more I look into this game, the more excited I get. I mean, I really enjoy On-Rails, but I want much more than seen with RE: UC and House of the Dead 3. I think this will deliver actually and I think it is looking great.

Looks pretty great to me. Dead Space is pretty much the best TPS since Max Payne 2. These guys have serious talent and right now I'm confident that whatever they make will be great. I also love the fact that it's not just a port, since I own the original PC version. I wouldn't object to a port also, but getting a Wii exclusive prequel is win-win for me. What's pissing me off is the way they're trying to hide the fact that it's on-rails with ridiculous phrases like 'guided first person experience'. Some of the interviews I've read are laugh-out-loud funny because these guys just don't want to admit that it's a rails shooter. I haven't seen so many vague non-answers and dodging in quite a while. I think it's insulting to the fanbase. I'm still totally getting the game, though.
