My guess is that you can expect Deadly Creatures to be like Mushroom Men, but with better gameplay. So great level design, above average presentation and graphics, and decent gameplay. Solid 8.0 game, 8.5 if GS is feeling overly generous.
from what i had is that there are some slight bugselbert_b_23
Slight bugs? The game has major bugs in it, one of which is a main character.
:P
Anyways, I don't know if it'll be the best game ever, but it's looking pretty good to me thus far. Plus, it has Billy Bob Thornton.
Doesnt look worht a buy. Reminds me of the crappy playstation 3D platformers and they already said u dont learn much attack wise. So your just going to be waggling the wiimote to see the same attack animation over and over the levels would have to be really great and intuitive and they dont look like they are.webbutMy understanding was that buttons are used for basic attacks and that gestures are only used for special or 'finishing' moves (scorpion sting etc). At least I think that's what they are doing, it would be sad if after all this time, devs still think it's a brilliant idea to use motion for EVERYTHING. Fingers crossed, eh?

The latest hands on said that you use buttons for combat.
Let's see now:
It has an original story line with voice-overs done by a couple of respected hollywood types (Billy Bob and Dennis).
It has some pretty good looking graphics (if you want to argue with me about them not being HD go to System Wars I'm not interested). Both the main characters look great and some of the sceneary is inspired.
It's pretty unique and as far as I know they appear to have the game play sorted so that the gesture control is only used for the specials.
Some of the finishing moves look pretty gruesome.
Finally the devs are obviously passionate about it and so am I - see my avatar that's from DC.
However, I agree with an earlier poster this isn't GOTY material it's solid 8 or 8.5 if you're being generous material.
I am not very interested in the game to be honest...the presentation looks kind of dull and I don't see what else their is to do besides fight other bugs...definitly overhyped. Greatfox424
Then you generally don't like videogames. Every game has repetition. Also, you fight more than just bugs in this game. There are also small animals to fight as well. There is also variety in the types of bugs and animals you fight. The way you fight enemies and traverse landscapes is also very different. That's ok...if you feel this is repetitious, then have fun playing the 100th FPS with space aliens.
Judging from the developer interview trailer, it seems like the action will be fairly standard platformer fare. You gain abilities as you progress that allow you to access new areas or secret areas in places you've already been to. You also gain stronger attacks, so we can assume that the enemies are initially weak but difficult to kill until you gain those attacks, and stronger enemies appear as your character gets stronger. This is a proven formula, so as long as the actual combat and exploration is fun, it should be a good experience.
The story is what could take this game beyond being a standard platformer, though. If the story and presentation are excellent, then the standard gameplay simply becomes a familiar vehicle through which to experience the plot. I hope this is the case. My favorite game ever, Eternal Darkness, has fairly standard gameplay coupled with an amazing presentation and a great story.
