Just announcing a Metroid Prime is in development sealed the deal for Nintendo, in my opinion. Did not expect a Metroid game to be released this year. Need to spread out the platform games. Felt if they were making a Metroid game it'd be the hot title for Holiday 2018. Hope it actually comes out next year!
People share your thoughts. What excited you most? Did Nintendo meet or exceed your expectations? Did Nintendo win the show?
@gopre: Yeah MP4 will likely be 2018.
Well I am definitely happy. Wasn't unhappy before, there were and still are tons of games I'm interested in getting.
Now it looks like, for confirmed physical releases this year, we have:
ARMS
Cave Story +
Splatoon 2
Mario + Rabbids
Skyrim
Fire Emblem Warriors
Super Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade 2
Rocket League
So that's 9 new games, on top of the ones I have and others that may come along this year yet.
Rocket League
Rocket League was confirmed for a physical release? Nice.
There is also:
Battle Chasers: Nightwar
Cars 3: Driven to Win
Fate/EXTELLA: The Umbra Star
Minecraft Story Mode
Redout
RIME
Sine Mora EX
Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle
@Eikichi-Onizuka: Actually...I'm not sure lol. It looks like the game is or will be availble on physical for the ONE and PS4 though, so maybe.

Yeah, but so was Shovel Knight and didn't get released physically on Switch. I do think it will though.
only thing missing for me was an actual metroid teaser trailer and smash bros.....
but the pokemon announcement was huge. it shows confidence in the switch.
mario looked awesome.
nothing but games and no chat......same as sony and xbox.
did it win e3? it is either tied with sony or lost but of course to me they win since i prefer nintendo games.
Not for me.
They didn't announce any new games that I'm interested in; Pokemon and Metroid Prime are not my cup of tea. The Mario Odyssey footage did not impress me as much as I hoped it would; I still don't know how I feel about Mario in a realistic environment, it just doesn't look right. And I didn't get any information on the things that I was curious about such as the virtual console, their online service, and if the SNES Mini will officially be released this year.
E3 as a whole was underwhelming for me this year, but I would say that I enjoyed Sony's show the most this year and I'm someone who usually likes either Nintendo's or Microsoft's shows the most, but this year, Sony won it for me.
I'd say Ubisoft "won" it. But I don't really think Nintendo needed to win E3. They already had their games announced in their Switch Direct earlier in the year, so there wasn't much new left for E3. With that said, they still had a good showing at E3.
@KBFloYd:So Smash Bros... You know, the lack of any information suggesting a Smash port is interesting. To me it suggests either it is happening, but they are adding much more content to the game and it will be a while until they are ready to reveal it. The evidence for Smash Bros. continuing to get support could be tied to Nintendo's decision to go ahead and release Amiibo of the remaining fighters after the Wii-U was discontinued.
Or else Nintendo has decided that they actually don't want to release this latest version of Smash Bros. again, since it has had exposure on the Wii-U as well as the very successful 3DS. Instead, they are already talking about a brand new iteration in the series that will come out later on. Lastly, maybe they want to do something...different than a Smash game this gen. Maybe some new concept, a sort of spiritual successor? Something that makes changes to the formula perhaps.
@storm_of_swords: Well, sorry to hear you were disappointed. At least you enjoyed one of the shows, and one which you did not expect to!
@trugs26: Ubisoft has been at work on a lot of different stuff, that's for sure. I'm still slightly cross at them for not bringing the South Park games to the Switch. I mean, why not? >:( I'd definitely like to try Mario + Rabbids Kingdom though, I like that it's a turn-based strategy game.

yea... i am starting to think smash bros won't be a port. it will be the next installment.
Yeah, in my eyes Nintendo "won" as in they made me the most excited. Followed by Ubisoft which started fantastic with Mario + Rabbits. It would have been epic if the Rabbit + Mario reveal was part of the Nintendo presentation.
Nintendo usually always wins it for me. Having said that, in my opinion this was one of their worst showings in quite some time.
It was nice to see Super Mario Odyssey and get a release date. This was the main highlight for them but it's not enough to keep the Switch alive. If this is all they have to show right now then the Switch is going to be in serious trouble. Not announcing any bundles or anything about localizing Monster Hunter XX for the west are seriously going to hurt Nintendo down the road.
Remaking an old Metroid game, adding one new mode to Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga and adding Amiibo functionality to both just shows how much Nintendo likes Milk. It's ridiculous how much they've turned into a major cash cow. I guess that's their way of getting around slapping the word Deluxe on everything.
What was the point of announcing Metroid Prime 4 and the new Pokémon game right now if they have nothing to show for them? Would've made a lot more sense to just wait until their next direct.
In the Treehouse segments, way too much time was and is still being spent on each game while only about 15-20 minutes tops is needed. Most of the games shown were for 45 minutes each while some lasted up to an hour and a half. It made it feel as though they had nothing to show and decided to drag everything out.
And while Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle looks interesting, the only other noteworthy games for me personally are the new Kirby and Yoshi games. But they don't come out until next year.
For a show? absolutely.
They've made me holding off on the Switch very difficult (I've got nothing against the Switch I'm just waiting for a model with superior battery life)
As for games? nope.
The Evil Within 2 and Monster Hunter: World stole the whole of e3 for me.
Sea of Thieves is #3.
And Mario Odyssey at #4. I love Mario, Galaxy is one of my favorite games on the Wii, but the new game raises as many questions as it does answer. I have no doubt it'll be fun, but are the new features breaking the platforming will be up for debate when the game is released.
Though for me personally Kirby also just looked fantastic. I grew up with the Pink Puff of Doom and seeing him have a coop platformer back to basics, looks to be quite the treat.
Metroid Prime 4 was just a logo, and the remake of 2 I will happily play on my N3DS. So with hope I can keep off the Switch for a little while longer. At this point it's becoming difficult not to rush in and buy one.
Yet the two games (TEW2 and MH:W) won the crown for me. And if World was also coming to Switch? I'm sure Nintendo loyalists would agree it has a lot of potential.
Sony did have one trick this year with a Shadow remake, I don't know what to think about that honestly. I wasn't overall excited but questioning will it control better than the original?
I'm excited w/ what Nintendo had to announce. If they continue this aggressive approach, the Switch will be a very successful system. If the Switch continues to sell at the rate it has, Nintendo may have it's best 3rd party support since the SNES.
I would love if this becomes a reality, love Nintendo and wish them all the sales they can get.
To me, it was between Ubisoft and Nintendo. One of the main featured Ubisoft games was a Mario game.. so that makes it a tough choice. I voted Nintendo, mainly bc they made 2 major announcements for the out years with Metroid prime and a core RPG Pokemon. I'm not a super fan of those games, but i know those will help move units, thus forcing 3rd parties to come back to nintendo. I also liked the new Kirby and Yoshi games for 2018 that they showed a bit, and people are barely talking about, but will likely be very fun new games. This will help Nintendo maintain a steady flow of games through 2018. They've already had about one major release per month the first year. Ubisoft was good. I loved Skull and Bones, AC Origins looked great. Beyond Good and evil was cool. Although still alot of details missing on skull and bones and beyond good/evil.
Microsoft had a nice showing of "exclusive" games, but didn't justify the price tag for the x1 enough for me. Needed more first party. To me, Sony had the worst conference. I'm probably most excited for the ps4 games, but this years conference was basically the 2016 conference. So nothing really new/exciting like last year. On top of that, many of the games will be 2018, and some may fall to 2019 : (
Okay, obviously most of us will be biased since this is the Nintendo Fan Club forum, but lets be real. Nintendo delivered with every single game they announced. It didn't feel like there were any fillers this time round, like most other E3 Presentations had. It was just all, pure amazing games for the future. I am so, so, so excited to grab a Switch now that there is more to it than just BotW and Mario.
Plus, a main Pokemon game on the Switch, along with Metroid Prime 4, and a future main Fire Emblem title? That is more than enough to justify the purchase for me.
