Personally, I think this game is sweet. I know it did not sell as well as MP, but it still had all the elements of Metroid that I love.

I am currently playing through it again so I can catch up on the story and series before Tuesday.

I have heard a lot of people did not like this game and I just want to know why. I agree there is some tedious backtracking and the difficulty is higher than Prime 1, but I still think it rocks.

Please post what you think.

It sucked because the dark aether was unpopular as was beam ammo both features are not in the new one (good thing).

personally, i thought that it was one of the most boring games i have ever played. I played for a total of like 6 or 7 hours, and it just didnt work for me. All the backtracking, and even worse, the dark/light world, just didnt give me the metroid imporession i wanted.

i think it was a bad game compared to the first one. The fact that you had ammo for the light/dark gun was stupid imo. Prime 3 already looks a lot better than prime 2 does.

Honestly: Never played it.

I didn't really enjoy the first one, so I never bough the 2nd.

But I will be picking up Corruption. According to NP, they've made the back-tracking less painful this time around. And it's sounding like a masterpiece in terms of gameplay and atmosphere. I'm very excited for MP3.

Yeah the light/darkworld and all that back tracking and the ammo thing I thought that killed what I called a Metroid game.Metroid Prime 1's back tracking was awhole lot easier seeing how u didnt have to keep switching from light to dark world and vice versa so no I didnt like this game

I don't understand people who liked Prime but hate completely Echoes. Ok I prefer Prime 1 me too but it's a lil bit exagerated to say that a very similar game is boring ormediocre.

My least favorite aspect of the game was the declining health in aether. Constantly declining health is always a bad move.

No, I hated the Light and Dark World theme from the game, also the Ammo and spotty aiming drew me away from the game complety.

Echoes has great music, atmosphere and progression, it reintroduced the screw attack to the series,it has insane puzzles ala zelda and built up on samus arans many stories/ missions/adventures , must say i really enjoyed the game! light aether was huge explorable world as expected, and as for dark aether, its atmosphere really sets a mood where you feel isolated on this alternate alien world

I kinda liked the Dark World. It was rougher on the gamer, and seeing as MP2 is a SEQUEL, it should be harder. The backtracking was a little tough sometimes, but there's nothing wrong with difficulty. And you always get light/dark ammo when u need it. Who cares? I played and beat both of them. And 3 sounds like the best yet. Sure beats Halo lol

I liked it, it was okay. But the ammo system can be annoying but... whatever, I'm sure you can live with that. I liked the keys though... They made it easier than finding the artifacts >.>

I thought it was good in many aspects. I think that the main problems where, the fact that the dark world was rather bland, and boring, and the fact that there were so many useless fetch quests. Get three keys to open each temple, and find 9 more to open the final one. The ammo system also did not help it in my opinion.

I don't think so... Metroid Prime doesn't even feel like a FPS to me. Just another adventure game, Sure it has FPS looks, but it's still not like Halo.

I thought it was a cool game, not as good as the first, though. The light and the dark worlds were just ike Zelda:Link to the Past. It did have multi player which people forget even though they want it. And the backtracking wasn't that bad because there were upgrades and other bonuses. The only thing that I didn't like with metroid games is that the enemies reappear when you go back through the rooms.

i like it. not as good as one and there were some bad decisions made (ammo for the weapons dark and light guns...a no no imho) but overall an enjoyable game. still very atmospheric.....still plays very well and some of the bosses are a bit nuts.

I agree 100%. Can one of you explain how this is possible?

I personally loved both games thoughI liked the first better. But Prime 2 had awesome boss fights and so many memorable scenes. It had all the great aspect as the first one, but it just wasn't executed as fluidly I guess.

yeah I know what you mean too

I can see people liking prime 2 less, but not actually disliking it and liking prime
prime 2 was a bit less interesting and the overworld could have done with being a little less linear (with the parent system of the middle area and 3 branching areas off that). Also the dark world could have done with a bit of work, but overall it played the same with a few additions, and had some of the best boss fights ever (and FAR more than prime ever did!)

The Dark world kiled it. It was like every time you went in you were like "Ugggh here we go AGAIN into the dark world. roll:" You never wanted to be in there it was such a drag and all you wanted was to get out.

I played and beat Prime 2 and then i went out and bought Prime and...actually found itboring and not as fun don't know why though i just didn't like it as much:?....also all lot of you said the Dark World was annoying but to me everytime i was about to go in it i was like yes:D the dark world this gonna be so cool. and going back to an old spot never got old to me i always just looked for something i might have missed last time i was there or i would get a new thing that will let me open someting i couldn't go threw before and i'd get extra health or missles or even just found a new creature it was rewarding to me....I wonder why not as many people enjoyed this game? I think everyone was expecting a FPS and then they gotwas astraight up adventure game and were like......."What? This is stupid why am iwalking 5 miles to open some stupid door? Why can't i just blow something up or shoot in the head? This is dumb." i just don't see why more people didn't enjoy just looking the enviroments in the game oh well i guess some pplz just don't like adventure games.

It was alright (It's Metroid) but it was not as good as any of the others due to Dark Aether, and Ammo which is just something that Metroid should never EVER have.

sorry about my original post i didnt mean to qoute the guy above me. I meant to say that i like Prime 2 but not as much as Prime. There were a couple of annoying aspects in MP2 like the dark aether/light aether. But by itself its a very good game. Comparing it to MP its kinda bad, but somewhat good.

so people love metroid 1 and hate metroid 2 because of the dark world and ammo not being abundant? wow what lame excuses

not that beat metroid 1 or 2 but i found the second one easier cause it had a story to tell me where to go not metroid 1's random energy spikes appearing for 5 seconds on the map and then never to be seen again and metroid 2 had different looking worlds unlike metroid 1 it all seemed to blend together no change no nothing

either way hating one or the other and loving the other one is about as stupid a statement that can be made since they are nearly identical.

I really liked Prime 2, not as much as 1, but still a great game. At first I was put off by the dark/light ammo thing too, but then I thought about it and made peace with it. I mean, you need to pick up more ammo for your missiles and powerbombs, so it's not like ammo limitations are unheard of in a metroid game. As for the backtracking, Metroid IS backtracking. That's one of the series defining characteristics!

The difficulty level fluctuations are really annoying, and it has a really disturbing, depressing art style/atmosphere... that's why I don't like it as much as MP1.

I liked it. I was ok with the dark parts unlike most people but they were a bit boring and unoriginal.

But I got frustrated playing MP2 alot more than the original (Boostball Guadian) and I beleive there is a fine line between challenge and frustration that a game should never cross. I thing MP2 just liked to push my buttons.

It's interesting to me that most people don't like the ammo for the beam weapons. In my playing of the game it never once crossed my mind that it was a hassle. I guess it might be better if there was no ammo, but it is not a problem for me. Just like someone else just posted, you have ammo for missles and power bombs, so it's not really like this is something new. I think it also adds another level of strategy to the game.

As far as the Aether/Dark Aether thing, I also don't have a problem with that. Someone also said it is similar to Zelda A Link to a Past. I agree. There have been plenty of great games that have implemented that type of light/dark theme. Some Castlevania and other Zelda games have implemented some sort of light/dark theme where things are different depending on light or dark.

I'm not bashing anyone's opinions, though. I just wanted to see what people thought in general.

I think the Prime games are awesome and I look forward to playing and completing Metroid Prime 3 Corruption. I think they are incredible video game achievements and it will be nice to see how Nintendo and Retro Studios have implemented Wii controls to the series. If anyone is going to get FPS controls right on Wii, it's going to be Nintendo.

ANY game is bad compared to Prime 1

Haha, somewhat true. I liked Echoes, i thought the story with Dark Samus was cool and it kept me wanting to play more. The Beam ammo was a let down, but the game was still a great game overall i think. Of course it's not as good as Prime1, which is my favorite game of all time, but it's still fun and enjoyable. Prime3 does look much better then Prime2 though, but will it be better then Prime1? Eh, that's gonna be a tough thing to do, but from what I've heard and seen it's possible.

I actually liked it just as much as the first one, which I loved. I wasn't fond of the ammo system, but I did kinda like the darkworld. I also liked the main areas even more than Prime's. Not to mention the length, fantastic graphics and sound, good difficulty level, and insane bosses.

i dnt think thats true(about the different looking world parts), MP2 had pretty much the same areas over and over again it got annoying to me. Theres a desert, a bog, a fortress, and then there is all of those repeated but in the dark. and all of them were pretty dark so they kinda looked a little duller to me then the vibrant, rainforest, volcanic underground, tundra, deserted ruins, and some other areas in the orignal MP.
