I could either get Pikim for the Gamcube for $10 or Pikmin for the Wii for $30.
What are the differences between each game? Does the Wii controls make it better?
I heard you couldn't restart a day in the original, is that true?

Not true. After doing more research (google helps you know) - NPC! Pikmin saves day by day records of the players walkthrough, so people can go back to any day and restart from there. It also offers a 16:9 Widescreen mode and new controls, which utilize the pointer. The only difference is the controls, and since the Gamecube version is cheaper, you should go with that.

In some cases the Wii controls don't work as well as the GCN ones. Especially for the controling pikmin behind you. In other cases the Wii controls are much better (Being able to throw pikmin behind you while running away from an enemy). I am going to say that you should buy the NPC version because the Wii Pikmin is coming and it is better for you to be used to the Wii controls for that game.
