Wow, this game looks a lot better in video form than its pics did. You really can't judge a book by its cover, or in this matter a game by its screenshots. I'm gonna get it regardless.
Well they didnt really show much gameplay, it was mostly cinema scenes and QTE's which arent really gameplay as much as they are interactive cinema scenes. However the game did look like it had a nice excitement factor to it.

Fear not. It appears that its only on rails during the set peaces, which is the same for any game (MGS3 bike chase, for instance). Other than that the shooting mechanics seem to have been borrowed heavily from RE4. Not that I'm complaining, of course ;)

There's plenty of shooters in which You can move... If they give You plenty to do while not being able to move then won't it be fine? Like trying to hold back a bad guy with Your pistol while trying to get a car started? I mean, You can't have that kind of intense action with free moving. Without being able to move You're stuck there between a rock and a hard place and have to make best of things. It doesn't feel fake either because running away from the car would be a death wish. The only free mover that i know of that gave gamers that kind of tension was Fahrenheit/Indigo.. which didn't really allow for much movement either (You were still bound to small rooms with limited interaction.)
Will that annoying arrow and text pointing to Ray always be there? Other than that, the game looks really good. Much better in action than screenshots.
I'd rather have more of a 3rd-person run and gun style of shooting than having to stop and stand still everytime I want to shoot.Chojuto
I mean if they had a cover system anyway you would be stopping to shoot regardless. Anyway the main focus of the game is suppose to be surviving the disasters not the shooting aspect, so I am glad that they gave it a back seat and didnt just make it a generic shooter with a disaster-riden background.

Even if there are only a few rails to follow in the entire game maybe it won't be such a pain. Perhaps the developers will use it to their advantage and create some interesting scenarios where Ray will act with his disaster struck environment. It looks as if the commercial depicts this feature ie running away from tsunamis. Running for cover isn't such a bad thing I agree.
