I play games for gameplay and gameplay only. No matter how pretty the game is, if gameplay is boring, then graphics can do nothing to save it. With the exception of pixelation(which I can ignore), I'm quite pleased with the DS's graphics since they get the job done and devs have done a good job with coming up with art styles that hide some of it's technical flaws. They're good enough so that they don't get in the way and that's all that matters.
P.S. 3D games are really the only ones with the problem. 2D games look exellent.
There are two problems here.
1: You are playing a DS game not a DSi exclusive game. We can't judge the slightly better hardware on the DSi before we get DSi exclusive games which will probably be years away. Another way could be if a dev makes a very high quality DSiWare game but it's going to be really hard to know if it couldn't be done as a original DS game.
2: People are vastly overrating the hardware in the DSi. Games might look slightly better on the DSi than the DSL or DSP in theory but so far we don't know if the better hardware is even going to be used in games.
However graphics looks good enough on the DS and the future DSi games so I'm not complaining.
If you say it looks worse than a ps1 game then you don't know much, 3d graphics on the ps1 looked horrible
Sorry that you're disappointed, but I'm not sure where you got the idea that the DSi had the capability to improve the graphics of old DS games. With the slightly larger screen, it's possible that some things could look worse.
